Manchester City looks to keep applying pressure on Arsenal in the title race when they visit Fulham on Sunday afternoon.

City — and in particular Kevin De Bruyne — were masterful in Wednesday's 4-1 home demolition of the Gunners to close the gap to two points in the standings, with City holding two matches in hand. They'll go at least temporarily into first place with another win, since Arsenal doesn't play again until Tuesday.

Fulham suffered a 1-0 defeat at Aston Villa on Wednesday, dealing a major blow to their European hopes. And in general, the Cottagers have appeared to lose a little steam after guaranteeing themselves Premier League survival much earlier than most expected.

City defeated Fulham 2-1 in early November just before the World Cup break. At the time, the Cottagers were in better form and the Cityzens in a worse run.

Fulham

Even if this is a period where the Cottagers fall to earth a bit, it's still an undeniable success for a team that did not make all that many adjustments to their squad after winning promotion from the League Championship last season.

And they've also been playing without one of the most important parts of that squad for weeks now since striker Aleksander Mitrovic received an eight-game ban for making contact with an official in an FA Cup defeat to Manchester United.

Fulham have scored six times in the first five games of that ban, a stat that becomes a little more worrying when you look at the quality of the opposition. Villa was the only opponent in that run currently in the top half of the table.

The Cottagers don't have a victory against an opponent the caliber of City, but they've pulled off some solid wins in the league against teams above them in the table. They swept the season series against Brighton, and won at home against Aston Villa and Brentford.

Man City

After a start to the season that looked downright human, City have been back to their otherwordly selves for nearly three months now.

Manager Pep Guardiola's side is now 14-0-3 (W-L-D) in their past 17 across all competitions and have won their past seven in a row in the league, outscoring their domestic foes 22-4 during that stretch. And Arsenal are hardly the only Champions League-level foe to take a hiding. City also beat Bayern Munich 3-0 and RB Leipzig 7-1 during their continental exploits.

If there's any room for criticism — or softness from a gambling perspective — it's in City's propensity for keeping clean sheets. They've failed to do so in their past four league matches, and in 21 of their 31 league fixtures overall.

Those goals often occur once the matter is already decided, as was the case on Wednesday. Guardiola's men have won an astonishing 11 games by multiple goals in which they've conceded.

Fulham vs Man City Pick

With safety relatively secure and a European place very unlikely — and only possible with several late-season wins — Fulham have every reason to go right at City rather than to play conservatively or overly defensively.

That lack of inhibition probably makes the day a little easier for City in the end. But it also is likely to lead to a few chances for the home side that still has plenty of players capable of converting, even without "Mitro".

A yes wager on both teams to score (+110, Caesars) is a decent bet, but I like playing Fulham to score exactly once at +160 odds and an implied 38.5% probability even better.

City have conceded a single goal in half of their 16 away league games. Fulham have scored exactly one goal in three of their four league matches against the current top four.

Pick: Fulham 1 Goal Exact (+160, BetMGM)
