Bears vs. Lions odds have Detroit installed as an 8-point home favorite with a game total of 48 for NFL Week 11. The high total is because of the returning Justin Fields, who's the focus of my Bears vs. Lions prediction.

The Bears come into this matchup with a small sense of renewed hope. Fields will be making his return since leaving in Week 6 against the Vikings with a thumb injury. Khalil Herbert is also expected to return after suffering a high ankle sprain in Week 5. The Bears sit in last place in the NFC North with a record of 3-7, but this slew of returning key players represent hope for the Chicago faithful.

Let's make a Bears vs. Lions prediction and break down this NFL Week 11 matchup.

Matchup Analysis

Whether it's Tyson Bagent or Justin Fields, Chicago's offensive line has done a poor job of protecting the quarterback.

The Bears are allowing sacks on 9% of dropbacks. Their pass block rating comes in at 60.8 (20th in the NFL), according to PFF. Facing off against an edge rusher like Detroit's Aidan Hutchinson, it could be a long day for Fields.

Detroit's pass rush is effective when it comes to forcing QB hurries. However, it doesn't have as much success when it comes to logging sacks.

Getting the quarterback under duress is one thing, but actually getting a sack is another. The Lions are 27th in total sacks forced and are 31st in tackles for a loss. They also have missed over 60 tackles this season, the ninth-most in the NFL.

Fields is coming back from a thumb injury on this throwing hand. I am not sure how much the coaching staff will want him throwing, especially if they happen to go up early.

We all know Fields has the ability to move the ball with his legs, whether it be a designed run or impromptu scramble. He has an average of 8.5 rush attempts per game and 6.5 rush yards per carry in his career.

The combination of Fields’ ability to escape pressure and extend plays and the Lions’ ability to force pressure leads me to believe that Fields is poised to have a big day on the ground.

Last season, in Fields’ two games against the Lions, he tallied 279 rush yards on 23 attempts. He torched this defense with his legs, and I am not sure anything will change.

Betting Picks & Predictions

The Lions force quarterback pressures, but can’t capitalize with sacks or tackles for loss. Fields has a history of gaining large chunks of yards with his legs against Detroit. This adds up to a big day on the ground for Fields.
Pick: Justin Fields Over 47.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
