Sandy Alcantara is coming off a disaster start and now has a 6.98 ERA, but his xERA is 4.91 and projections have him closer to 2.5 earned runs over 6 innings in this spot. It's scary to trust him as he's been boom or bust this season, but I have this F5 projected closer to 4. Quinn Priester on the other side has been fantastic this season, and his 3.35 ERA is supported by a 3.70 xERA. His strikeout rate is up to a career high 18.8% while he has a career-low HR/9 ratio (0.92), which makes me think this is more likely a breakout than a fluke. I'm going to back both starting pitchers for the first half of this game.
