AT&T Byron Nelson: Target Spieth, Kokrak in Saturday’s Third Round

In Round 2 of the AT&T Byron Nelson, Sebastian Munoz shot a 69. It wasn't a disaster, but it certainly opened the door for the rest of the field to narrow the gap. At the end of the round, the 29-year-old found himself in a share of the lead with Ryan Palmer and David Skinns at -15. As expected, there were plenty of low scores out there.
The tournament is wide open, but Jordan Spieth, Joaquin Niemann and Hideki Matsuyama are the three big-name stars poised to make a weekend move.
Round 3 Best Bets
Round 3 Matchup: Jordan Spieth (-115) over Joaquin Niemann (DraftKings)
Jordan Spieth was my pre-tournament pick to win and I've seen nothing that has led me to change my mind about that. Spieth had a lackluster start on Thursday, playing his first seven holes of the tournament at even par. Since then, he's played his past 29 holes at -12 and looks to have really settled in. He gained 2.91 strokes from tee to green on Friday, which was 10th in the field. More importantly, it's Spieth in Texas. He's put himself in a perfect spot to make a weekend run and I fully anticipate he will get in the mix. Joaquin Niemann is playing well, but there isn't anyone I'd take over a red-hot Spieth playing golf in Texas this weekend.

Round 3 Matchup: Jason Kokrak (-110) over Maverick McNealy (Bet365)
I was surprised Jason Kokrak got so little pre-tournament buzz considering the fact that he has won his past two starts in the state of Texas. Additionally, he arrived to TPC Craig Ranch in good form, having finished 14th at The Masters last month. The 36-year-old has been rolling this week, gaining 3.62 strokes putting through his first two rounds. I'd typically see that as a reason to be a bit skeptical of him over the weekend, but in this case I feel it's a sustainable pace. In his past 24 rounds, the veteran ranks first in the field in Strokes Gained: Putting on Bentgrass greens.
