The W comes in loaded with their Sunday slate that includes four games in a must-see lineup of action. The shorthanded Phoenix Mercury will likely take the floor without Brittney Griner (listed as questionable with a hip injury) against the Connecticut Sun at 1 p.m. ET on ABC.
The Las Vegas Aces follow it up as they face the Washington Mystics with a 3 p.m. ET showdown on CBS Sports Network, plus the Indiana Fever try to hold their own in a challenging test against the Minnesota Lynx at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.
Last but definitely not least, the Atlanta Dream and Seattle Storm end Sunday's roundup at 6 p.m. on League Pass.
Let's get right into our WNBA best bets for Sunday, July 14.
Mercury vs. Sun
By Jim Turvey
There's so much to like here.
The Mercury head to Connecticut on Sunday, and while Copper may potentially be taking on a heavy usage burden, this matchup is tailor-made to limit her 3s.
Copper has cleared this 3.5 number in only four of her 23 games this season, and now she faces a team that allows the fewest 3-point field goals made and attempted. The Sun are also the second-best 3-point field goal defense to boot.
In her two other matchups against the Sun this season, she has one made 3 combined on eight attempts overall. That goes to show the Sun are elite at limiting 3s for their opponents.
The reason this line is so high is because Diana Taurasi, Natasha Cloud and Brittney Griner are all questionable. If all three are out, it's basically only Copper driving the offense for Phoenix. However, if all three are out, this game is going to be over quickly, and Copper almost certainly won't play much due to the blowout.
I would play this all the way down to under 1.5 at plus-money, so there's clearly plenty of of leeway.
Pick: Kahleah Copper Under 2.5 3s
Fever vs. Lynx
Indiana's atrocious defense allows the second most points per game to guards and second most 3-point attempts per game.
Kayla McBride is currently in the 95th percentile for points per jump shot and takes a massive seven shots per game from beyond the arc. She should shred a Fever team that ranks 11th in defensive rating.
Minnesota's leading scorer Napheesa Collier holds a doubtful tag too, so the Lynx will truly rely on McBride to carry the offense.
