Storm vs. Mystics
It’s been a circuitous journey in professional basketball for Washington’s Julie Vanloo. At 31, she finally made her debut in the WNBA.
Before her debut in the WNBA, Vanloo showcased her skills in the Turkish Super League, playing for Galatasaray alongside her current Mystics teammate, Myisha Hines-Allen.
In 31 games, the Belgian product averaged 13.1 points and 8.6 assists while playing 34.8 minutes.
Vanloo is a capable scorer, but she’s much more of a true point guard.
In the season opener against the Liberty, she played only 13 minutes and still dished out four assists.
She then played 29 minutes in the next game against the Sun and finished with eight assists.
Vanloo could get some decent playing time with Mystics starting guard Brittney Sykes, who is doubtful for Sunday’s contest against the Storm due to an ankle injury.
As a result, Vanloo stands a good chance to handle primary playmaking duties for the Mystics, making her a worthy candidate to go over her assists prop of 5.5.
