The Fever have had an up and down week that started with them beating the top team in the league, then losing to the team in 10th, and finally defeating a shorthanded Mercury team on Friday. Now, they face another top three team. Notably, Minnesota has been without Napheesa Collier for three games. She’s listed as a game time decision for Sunday’s game as she continues to deal with plantar fasciitis in her left foot.

With the All-Star and Olympic Break right around the corner, Team USA players are having their minutes managed which has presented some opportunities for teams in the bottom half of the league.

Betting angles can be derived from stats or narrative, and in this case I wouldn’t ignore the context of this game. The Lynx are expecting a sellout of nearly 19,000 fans, which is the largest regular-season crowd in franchise history- the Caitlin Clark effect at work again. This is also the night Minnesota is retiring Maya Moore’s jersey, who Clark grew up watching in nearby Des Moines, IA. Indiana is fighting for a playoff spot and without Collier, the Lynx could be in upset territory.

With all of that said, let's dive into our Fever vs. Lynx odds and make a WNBA pick and prediction in our betting preview for Sunday, July 14 before the game tips off at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN.

Indiana Fever

Early this season, Lynx Head Coach Cheryl Reeves tweeted about watching her team in their season opener and used the hashtag #theWismorethanoneplayer – a not so subtle nod to the Caitlin Clark Fever that lit this season on fire. Coach Reeves is also set to coach Team USA at the Olympics, a roster than Clark is conspicuously not on. After Clark did not make Team USA’s roster, Fever head coach Christie Sides told media that Clark told her “hey coach, they woke a monster.” Will we get to see that monster in this game?

Clark is coming off her 5th straight double double. In their win over the Mercury, Aliyah Boston led the team in rebounds with 13 and scored 21 points on 10-17 shooting. Kelsey Mitchell led the team in scoring with 28. The Fever faced almost no resistance from the Mercury defense, and were up by 31 in the third quarter, ultimately winning by just nine points. The Lynx are an entirely different beast, but with no Collier the basket opens up for Boston. I’ll take her to earn a double double at +145. Boston has notched a double double in eight of her last 12 games.

Minnesota Lynx

An entirely uncharacteristic performance from the Lynx led to a loss to the Storm on Thursday. The one bright spot was Kayla McBride who finished the night shooting over 50% for 27 points, accounting for 43% of the team’s points for the night. No other Lynx player scored more than seven. The defense didn’t look much better. Fortunately for the Lynx, Indiana is ranked 11th in opponent points per 100 possessions. Coming off the loss, the Lynx will be highly motivated to get back in the win column especially with a sold out crowd.

Betting Pick & Prediction

This line opened with the Fever getting around four points and was bet down to 2.5 before being bet back up to 4.5. Indiana has covered in 7 of their last 10 games, and I’ll back them to cover here against a shorthanded Lynx team. I would consider an over play, but with no Collier there's no telling what we'll get out of the Minnesota offense. All eyes are on Clark to have a massive game, but the book knows that and the lines reflect it.

Pick: Fever +4.5 | Aliyah Boston Double-Double +120 (FanDuel)
