Follow On X: https://x.com/PicksOffice After a tough blowout loss against UCF, the Bearkats will be eager to rebound, and playing in front of their home crowd for the first time this season provides the perfect opportunity. While Sam Houston’s offensive output against UCF was unimpressive, with only 286 total yards and two interceptions, the team demonstrated resilience in its passing game, posting 219 passing yards. That said, their third-down efficiency needs improvement, converting just 5 of 12 attempts. Despite these setbacks, the Bearkats have shown they can perform well offensively, averaging 224 passing yards per game, ranking them 72nd in college football. Hawaii, on the other hand, has struggled this season, particularly in their recent loss to UCLA. Their offensive performance was lackluster, managing just 278 total yards and three turnovers. They’ve also been plagued by penalties, which further hamper their ability to sustain drives. The Warriors have an underwhelming ground game, averaging only 89.5 rushing yards per game, which ranks them 116th in D-1. Hawaii’s offense, while capable of producing 24.0 points per game, doesn’t pose a significant threat on the ground, which could make it easier for the Bearkats to defend. The defensive comparisons also favor Sam Houston in this spot. While they’ve allowed 215.5 rushing yards per game, Hawaii’s inability to effectively run the ball means Sam Houston won’t face as much pressure in this area. Hawaii averages just 1.8 yards per rush, and in their last outing against UCLA, they managed a paltry 51 rushing yards on 28 carries. Sam Houston’s pass defense, allowing just 198.5 passing yards per game and only one touchdown through the air, will likely keep Hawaii’s aerial attack in check. Given that Sam Houston averages 24.0 points per game and Hawaii’s ground attack is virtually non-existent, the Bearkats should be able to control the pace of the game. Playing at home should fuel their bounce-back effort, and while Hawaii might improve after the extra preparation time, their offensive struggles, particularly on the ground, and turnover issues make it hard to see them covering the spread. Sam Houston is in a prime position to capitalize on these weaknesses and deliver a solid win by at least a touchdown.
