This is a spot I’ve had circled for a while, mainly because I know the Celtics have had it circled too—Nov. 6 to be exact. That’s when the Wolves made themselves a serious team to consider, which they did by handing Boston their first loss of the season—something the Celtics haven’t done much of in 2023-24.

Boston is a team that doesn’t take kindly to statement losses or losses in general. Since 2021-22, it’s 47-32-1 ATS after a loss, including 5-2 this season and they’re coming off a controversial loss to the Pacers who were without Tyrese Haliburton for much of the game.

Meanwhile, the Wolves are coming off a massive blowout win in Orlando and could be in for a letdown on the second night of a back-to-back.

I expect the Celtics to come out of the gate hot and maintain that energy throughout. I wouldn’t be surprised if this ended in a trifecta spot, but I’ll take the path of least variance and bet the Celtics for the full game down to -8.5

Pick: Celtics -8.5 or Better

Celtics -3.5 First Half

This is once again a spot where I like the team for the game as a whole, but I like targeting the half market even more.

This number opened at Celtics -6.5 but has moved to -9 at some books, so it's clear I'm not alone in liking Boston for the full game, but where this matchup really favors Boston is in the first 24 minutes.

Boston has been amazing in the first halves of games this season, with a +17.0 net rating that has resulted in a 27-8-1 ATS record this season in the first half. Minnesota, on the other hand, hasn't been terrible in the first half (+2.9 Net Rating), but because they are far better in the second half (+8.0 Net Rating), they have gone just 14-22 ATS in the first half this season.

There's not really a logical number this could get to where I wouldn't like the bet, so feel free to wait out this bet a bit to make sure there are no crazy late scratches for either team that would move the full game line drastically.

Pick: Celtics -3.5 First Half

Bruce Brown Over 11.5 Points

Tyrese Haliburton suffered a hamstring injury and will miss the next few weeks. Interestingly enough, when Haliburton has missed this season the Pacers do not have another option that would be considered the “primary” scoring option.

However, Bruce Brown has risen to the occasion and has lead the Pacers with 16.7 ppg in the 3 he has played without Hali this season. Now, he gets a matchup against the hapless Wizards who have the worst defense in the league and play at the second-fastest Pace.

He should excel in this matchup with his ability to score at all 3 levels. I’ll grab him to exceed 11.5 points.

Pick: Bruce Brown Over 11.5 Points
