The Mavs are on a back to back and the spread is -8, so we could easily see a lighter workload here for the 31-year old. A lot to like here. The Huddle got it first The Blazers take on the Mavericks who are dealing with a number of injuries. This is a good spot for Deni who has started the last 6 games for the Blazers and seen his scoring opportunities rise during this stretch. Deni is averaging 19.3 points in 33 minutes per game during this 6 game sample size. He is also taking 13 FGA which is an uptick from his 10.1 season average. The Mavericks’ defense is middle of the road over the last two weeks and Deni has hit this line in 5/6 games since rejoining the starting lineup. I like him to do so again tonight.

It’s been good to see Sharpe back to full health after missing the start of the season due to a left shoulder injury that delayed his debut. Since returning, he’s averaged 18.04 PPG per 36 minutes in the 411 minutes he’s played without Jerami Grant on the floor. Most recently, he had a 21-point game against a struggling Pelicans defense. However, with a back-to-back against Dallas, things won’t be as easy. Let’s break it down why. For starters, Sharpe is averaging 16.8 PPG on the road, compared to 19.6 PPG at home. The Mavericks are loaded with strong wing defenders, including Klay, Naji, PJ, Grimes, and Kleber, all of whom can contest shots. But while it make look concerning in the last meeting on December 28 with Sharpe scoring 23 points, I wouldn't take it that seriously being that Naji, PJ, and Lively were all out. Over the last five games without Luka, Dallas has ranked 3rd in limiting 3-pointers, with sportsbooks setting Sharpe’s line at -180 to not hit 3+ 3PM. In games where he plays 25+ minutes and under 2.5 3PM, Sharpe has averaged just 15.4 PPG and has gone under 19 points in 88.8% of the 9 instances. Dallas is also top-10 in defending the pick-and-roll, which accounts for 24% of Sharpe's points.
