The Dallas Mavericks visit the New Orleans Pelicans tonight in a matchup where Flagg remains the primary offensive option for a retooling Dallas squad. Season averages sit at about 20 PPG, but recent form shows elevated production: he scored 27 points (10-17 FG) yesterday against Cleveland, following a 25-point outing earlier in the week. The Pelicans' defense ranks in the bottom half of the league over their last 15 games, and they are particularly vulnerable to athletic wings with length and scoring versatility like Flagg. As a 8.5-point road underdog, Dallas is likely to rely heavily on Flagg's shot volume to stay competitive, especially in transition and isolation sets where he has excelled against comparable frontcourts this season. I think that Flagg is acutely aware of the fact that he is no longer the favorite to win the rookie of the year award, and he is going to do everything in his power over the last month to re-assert himself as the premier rookie in this class. Dallas is going to give him unlimited run and usage to do so. Further, looking at the injury report it’s entirely possible if not likely that PJ Washington sits this one out which would further open up Usage for Flagg.

The Rockets face off against the Lakers on Monday night and I’m looking at Amen Thompson in this matchup. Amen is excellent at attacking the rim and getting into the teeth of the defense. He puts pressure on them with his size and athleticism. Here, the Lakers are weak inside of the redirected area. They do not have a great rim presence and with Luka, LeBron, and Reaves their defense is a bit lacking overall. Thompson has already crushed this defense with a 26 point performance back on Christmas and other players like him have had success. Zion and Giddey are two players who both try and get to the rim and each found success recently against the Lakers. I’ll back Amen on Monday night.

DK Under Team Specials Miller averaged over 20 ppg last season in part due to various injuries but this is clearly not out of reach for him, especially if they're going to get to 40 games I think this is a relatively risk free and correlated bump for the price on 40+ wins. The best in market number for 40+ that l've seen as a straight is +1600 (MGM) so we are getting essentially double the price on a correlated outcome.

I’ll bite. Bet right when they signed Turner before they waived Dame. Think it’s worth a nibble down to 50/1 for a Giannis team. To me this is all a sign that the franchise is saying to Giannis we are doing anything we can to optimize your time here. Figure it out later but the number will never be this good as long as Giannis is in a Bucks jersey and is healthy.

SGA and the Thunder look to defend their title this season and he has a legitimate case to win a second consecutive MVP. Shai stacks up with Jokic in all of the advanced metrics and now Jokic is on the wrong side of 30 for the entire season while Shai is directly in his prime. Shai’s rotation is also conducive to him seeing a consistent output throughout the season since he generally plays the entire 3Q and will sit in the 4Q if there’s a blowout. His floor is incredibly high on a nightly basis. Jokic played the most minutes per game of his career last season and one of the primary reasons they brought in Cam Johnson is with the hope he can take some of the creation and facilitating off of Jokic as he can run a bench unit. Additionally, they brought in Valanciunas to mitigate the non-Jokic Center minutes. All of the word out of camp is to try and make Jokic’s life a little bit easier. Shai is an elite player on both sides of the floor and has a clear path for best player on the best team. MVP generally is going to the chalk, and we rarely see any longshots leapfrog multiple top tier favorites for this. I’ll back SGA to make it two in a row, which is historically common to see. It is at the 3-peat that we see some voter fatigue.
