Pacers vs Pistons Player Props
There's no sugar-coating it: the Pistons' season has been a dumpster fire. At 12-56, they're somehow trending worse than last season’s 17-win campaign.
One of the very few bright spots for Detroit has been the play of Cade Cunningham. The third-year pro has bounced back from his injury-riddled sophomore season to average a career-high 22.2 points per game.
The former first-overall pick is the focal point of the Pistons' pick-and-roll offense. And at 9.6 points per game on those plays, Cunningham is the league’s sixth-leading pick-and-roll scorer.
That’s where I’m seeing an edge in tonight’s matchup against Indiana.
The Pacers boast the league’s worst pick-and-roll defense, allowing 21.2 points per game to ball-handlers at 1.00 points per possession — both of which are the worst marks in the NBA.
Cunningham has capitalized on all three matchups against Indiana this season, scoring 23, 30 and 30 points. In fact, Cunningham has scored at least 23 points in 10-of-14 matchups against bottom-10 pick-and-roll defenses this season when he plays at least 26 minutes.
Even coming off three straight games where he’s failed to reach 20 points, this is very much a get-right spot for the Oklahoma State product. I have Cunningham projected at 25 points and would play this to 23.5.
