Let's head out west to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for a neutral-site ACC and PAC-12 clash between the Syracuse Orange and the Oregon Ducks. These two teams have won a couple of games in a row, and they will look to keep the momentum going.

There's some discrepancy in both of these offenses, so let's dive into the latest college basketball betting odds as well as my Oregon vs. Syracuse pick and prediction for Sunday, December 17.

Oregon Ducks

It's been a decent start to the season for the Orange in the post-Jim Boeheim era. They enter this game 7-2, and will now be tested by a very good offensive team.

I have a lot of concerns about this offense, especially in a contest that should be fast-paced. The Orange are 237th in adjusted field goal percentage, which will not cut it against this Ducks offense.

What's also alarming about this group is that they rarely get to the free throw line. They're shooting 32% from beyond the arc, so I'm not quite sure where they are going to get enough scoring in this game.

The Ducks are mediocre in almost every defensive category, but they are giving up a lot of trips to the free throw line. This is where the tide can start to change for the Orange in that department.

This defense will have to be strong once again in order to win this game. The Orange pride themselves on forcing turnovers, and they're 85th in adjusted defensive shot quality.

They need to do a better job on the defensive glass, a stat that they are 334th in opposing offensive rebounding. The Ducks are not the best on the glass, but this will certainly give them a boost.

The good news for the Orange is that they will have a clear size advantage. They are 24th in average height, whereas the Ducks are amongst the smallest teams in the country.

They will need to get creative with their length in order to generate a spark on the offensive end. This is also technically an away game since this game is on the west coast, so they will be facing a heavily populated Ducks crowd from what I can imagine.

Syracuse Orange

Dana Altman has done a terrific job with this team, especially since they've been dealing with some injuries to begin the season. This group may be undersized, but they've established that they can be efficient on both ends of the floor.

The Ducks enter this contest 31st in adjusted offensive efficiency and 56th in defense. They are far more balanced compared to their opposition in this game, and I expect them to take full advantage.

First and foremost, this is a great matchup for this defense. I already spoke about the Orange's offensive struggles, but the Ducks should be able to take full advantage of the glass.

They do a nice job at boxing out, and their offense has a nice matchup in order to improve their second-chance opportunities. Even with a size deficit, the Ducks should excel in this area.

Offensively this group is about in the middle of the pack in tempo, but they've been absolutely scorching hot from beyond the arc. They're shooting 38% as a team, so they will need to continue to cash in if they want to come out of Sioux Falls with a win.

Jermaine Couisnard and Jackson Shelstad do the majority of the scoring for this group. They are talented enough to crack this Orange defense.

There are too many weapons for this Ducks team, and I think even if the Orange show up on the defensive end they do not have the pieces offensively to keep up. This west coast crowd should give this group an extra lift as well.

Betting Pick & Prediction

I was pretty obvious in my Ducks breakdown, but I really like this spot for them. They are theoretically the home team in this spot, and I think there's some good value in this number.

KenPom makes this Ducks -6, and I see a lot of -3 / -3.5 spreads out there on various books. They have way too many offensive weapons for the Orange to contain, and I don't have any faith in Cuse's scoring ability.

They will be outsized, but I don't think that will come into play since they've been an excellent defensive-rebounding team. The Ducks should roll here unless they go completely ice cold from the field.

Pick: Oregon -3.5
