The Portland Trail Blazers play their fifth straight road game when they face the 76ers tonight in Philadelphia.

The Blazers have fallen out of play-in range in the Western Conference in recent games and are currently tied for 12th with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Sixers will be going for their fourth straight victory and are just two games behind the Boston Celtics for No. 2 in the Eastern Conference.

Here's a break down of tonight's matchup and a betting pick for Trail Blazers vs. 76ers.

Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers are currently a game behind the New Orleans Pelicans and Los Angeles Lakers for the final spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament.

The Blazers opened the season winning 11 of their first 20 games and looked like they would compete for a playoff spot this season. Unfortunately that doesn't look like it will be the case this season.

Over the past 12 weeks, the Trail Blazers are 14-22 straight up and 13-23 against the spread. Only the Dallas Mavericks and Houston Rockets have been worse against the spread over that span. On the road, they've been middling — 14-20 SU and 16-18 ATS on the road. Over the past eight weeks, the Trail Blazers on average have been 6.1 point underdogs and lose by 7.9 points.

The Trail Blazers are led by a formidable trio of Damian Lillard, Anfernee Simons, and Jerami Grant. Outside of those names the Trail Blazers don't have much on the roster. In order for Chauncey Billups' team to compete in the future the roster must be improved.

Philadelphia 76ers

The 76ers are cruising into the Eastern Conference playoffs, winning seven of their past 10 games. The Sixers 21-12-1 ATS at home this season. On average they are a 5.5 point favorite in home games and 17-11-1 ATS as home favorites.

Tonight marks the Sixers' first home game in the month of March after going 4-1 on their five-game road trip. This season, the Sixers are 2-1 straight up and 1-2 ATS in their first home game after a four-plus game road trip.

It's entirely possible the Sixers maintain their stellar record at home, but don't dominate the Trail Blazers in this matchup. After playing so many road games in a short span, I can see a version of the 76ers that lets go of the rope a bit.

Trail Blazers-76ers Pick

There is no doubt the Sixers are head and shoulders better than the Trail Blazers. Philadelphia should win tonight, but I'm not laying 8.5 points with this team.

Early betting splits indicate that the public is betting the Sixers with more than 60% of tickets landing on the home side. However, more than 90% of the money is hitting the Blazers in this matchup, according to Action Network's public betting data.

I think the point spread is inflated. Simons will be a game time decision tonight  and if he goes the point spread should drop to 7.5. I'm going to take the points with the Trail Blazers on the road. I would back the Blazers at 8.5 to 7.5.
