After a seven-game winning streak, the Suns lost by two points on Friday night in Indianapolis 133-131 despite Devin Booker's 62-point eruption. They will stay on the road tonight against the Magic as 1.5-point road favorites. However, unlike the Pacers game, expect this showdown to be much lower scoring with a 227.5-point total.
The Suns and Magic both rank in the bottom 10 of the NBA in Pace this season. With a slower game and fewer points expected, Kevin Durant's under 2.5 made 3s prop is the best line in our prop model. We have him projected for 1.8 3-pointers made, which is comfortably below his prop line. Durant has been under this line in back-to-back games.
Defending the 3-point line has been one of the strengths of this Magic defense. They are allowing only 33.1 3-point attempts per game, which is the sixth-lowest amount in the league. Opponents are making fewer than 12 3s per game against them. The Magic also rank fifth in overall Defensive Rating while allowing 111.1 points per game this season.
Even though Durant is a 45.5% 3-point shooter this season, he is not hunting his perimeter shot as only 25.8% of his field goal attempts come from behind the arc. In his only meeting with the Magic, Durant poured in 31 points but still only made two 3-pointers in that contest. Durant wants to get to his elite midrange game or attack the paint instead of settling for 3s.
The best line for Durant's under 2.5 made 3s prop is at DraftKings at -110 odds. Given the difficult perimeter matchup and Durant's willingness to ignore the 3-point line, this is the best player prop on the board.
Pick: Kevin Durant Under 2.5 Made 3s (-110)
The Bulls are 7.5-point road favorites as they look to move closer to .500 against the Trail Blazers tonight.
There are many ways to attack the Trail Blazers from a player-prop perspective, but one of the best is defensively. The Trail Blazers are allowing a league-high 8.9 steals and 6.2 blocks per game, which is the third-highest in the league. That sets up perfectly for Bulls guard Alex Caruso, who leads Chicago in both steals and blocks this season.
Over the last six games, Caruso has been elite defensively as he is averaging 2.0 blocks and 1.8 steals per game. Caruso has recorded three or more total steals and blocks in all six contests. He has also captured at least one block in 12 consecutive games and at least one steal in 11 of his last 14 games.
The Trail Blazers have nearly everyone listed as questionable for tonight's game. The list includes Anfernee Simons, Malcolm Brogdon, Jerami Grant, Jabari Walker and Scoot Henderson. Caruso is going to feast on this backcourt no matter what combination ends up playing for Portland. With Zach LaVine and Patrick Williams also out for the Bulls, Caruso will have enough playing time to cash this line.
While this line is juiced at -145, there is still value up to -150 at DraftKings. If it goes to 3.5 steals and blocks, take the juice on the over. We have Caruso projected for 3.6 steals and blocks tonight, which is well over his prop line. This is a superb matchup for one of the league's best defensive guards.
