The Phoenix Suns have won five of their last six games despite Kevin Durant missing their last three games. He is in danger of missing a fourth consecutive game with a questionable tag due to his hamstring injury. If he remains out, that will put more pressure on Devin Booker to both score and distribute the ball.
In his ninth season in the league, Booker has become the Suns' main facilitator this year and is averaging a career-high 7.9 assists per game.
Booker's 3-point shooting has taken a back seat to the rest of his game this season. Only 28.4% of his field goal attempts have come from behind the arc, which is a career low. He is still shooting 38.4% from downtown, but he has only taken 5.4 3-pointers per game. He will have to shoot the ball very efficiently to make three 3-pointers in this matchup.
Booker, who leads the Suns with 14.8 drives per game, will likely rely on his midrange game significantly more frequently than his 3-point shot. The Suns also play at the third-slowest Pace in the league, which is why this game total is the lowest on the slate at 228 points. They are 4.5-point home favorites against the Grizzlies, who have played much better since Ja Morant's return.
If Durant plays, this prop looks even better. In the 19 games that Booker has played with Durant this season, Booker is only making 1.9 3-pointers per game. Our prop model has Booker projected to make 1.8 3-pointers tonight, with the best odds at DraftKings at -125. He has gone under this line in six of his last nine games.
Pick: Devin Booker Under 2.5 3-Pointers Made (-125)
The two Los Angeles teams are going in the opposite direction right now. The Lakers have lost nine of their last 11 games, while the Clippers have won 14 of their last 16 games. This Battle of LA may not be much of a battle tonight with the way these teams are trending. The Clippers are favored by five points and clicking on all cylinders right now.
Anthony Davis is second in the league in rebounds with 12.3 per game, but he has always struggled in this matchup against the Clippers. Since joining the Lakers, Davis is averaging only 8.6 rebounds per game in his 12 regular season games in this spot.
The only game that Davis eclipsed 13+ rebounds against the Clippers was when LeBron James was out and he had to go up against aging Clippers center Serge Ibaka two years ago. This is a completely different spot tonight.
Our prop model has Davis projected for only 10.4 rebounds, which is over two rebounds shy of his player prop. The Clippers are allowing only 42 rebounds per game, which is the fifth-lowest mark in the league.
In the one game that Davis played against the Clippers this season, he only hauled in 10 rebounds, despite playing 48 total minutes as the game went into overtime. He finished with a 27-point, 10-rebound double-double, which won't cut it for this prop.
Davis has gone under this prop line in five of his last eight games, and this matchup is brutal for him on the glass and in the paint. The Clippers are among the top 10 in fewest amount of points allowed in the paint this season. Shop around for the best odds for this prop, but as of writing on Sunday morning, DraftKings has the best odds for under 12.5 rebounds at -115.
