76ers vs. Pistons
This should be an under, but as is the theme with NBA betting this season, what should happen doesn't always happen.
Still, I lean under for the Pistons team total because they can't score.
The Pistons have gone under this number in five of their past seven games, one over was home against Indiana — you and your family might go over against the Pacers — and the other was in New York, which is just shocking random NBA regular season B.S.
This team scored 107 points against the lowly Washington Wizards at home. Earlier this season, the Sixers smothered the Pistons 114-106 in Detroit.
It isn't fool proof, four of the Sixers last five opponents have gone for 110 points or more against Philly, but they were the Hawks, Wizards, Celtics and Pelicans. The Wizards scored 101 in a rematch last time out. I don't think the Pistons will break out of their scoring slump tonight.
Pick: Pistons Team Total Under 109.5
Pacers vs. Bucks
I wrote the betting preview for this game, which you can read here, but I'm betting the spread in this matchup. After running the numbers, my model makes the Pacers closer to a 4.5-point underdog in this matchup. Despite their promising start, there are spots this season where the market will discredit the Pacers, and this is undoubtedly one of them.
The data suggests that this Pacers team is a bad matchup for the Bucks, and we're getting points with a potentially better team that has already beaten the Bucks twice this season.
It's easy for teams to get sped up when facing an opponent like the Pacers with an Offensive Rating of 118 or higher, especially when both teams have defenses that rank in the bottom third in the NBA.
And if you play faster against the team that plays at the fastest pace in the league, you're almost doing them a favor because you're forced to play at their pace while having to match their ridiculous efficiency. Now imagine that the team you're facing is an underdog already catching some points even before the opening tip. I like the Pacers here at +6.5 or better.
Pick: Pacers +6.5
Lakers vs. Spurs
I was looking to bet the Spurs in this game, fully expecting a rest day from LeBron James and Anthony Davis, but to no surprise the books had the same idea. I can’t back San Antonio against the spread at such a short number (currently +3 but there are even a few +2.5s in the market).
Instead, I like Victor Wembanyama’s rebounds prop. Popovich has been messing with some lineups and one of those is taking Zach Collins out of the starting unit and letting Wemby play center. He's absolutely exploded on the glass since the change.
Wemby has cleared this in four of his past 10 games, but I think there's a high probability we see Davis rest. Even if he plays, Wembanyama has been enough of a force on the glass that I still like the prop. He's seen a significant increase in Rebound Percentage with Collins out of the starting lineup (+9.0) and he's grabbed 18 and 20 boards since the move. At plus-money, over 12.5 is definitely worth a play, but I'd stay away past 12.5.
