Rockets vs. Kings
The early season Kings were always hovering a few games above .500, but their Net Rating showed them to just be plain average. Coming out of the All-Star Break, they look like the Kings of last year as they have been scoring on everyone and winning games. They have won three of their last four, and have averaged 128 points in those wins.
Now the Kings take on the Houston Rockets, who are one of the league’s worst road teams. I expect Sacramento to light the beam and like the value in this spot on the Kings ATS for a full unit below the NBA key number of -7.
Pick: Kings -6.5
76ers vs. Knicks
By Joe Dellera
Death, Taxes, Josh Hart Over Rebounds plus Asissts. This man has been insanely consistent with Thibs running him out there for 40+ minutes a game in nine of the last 10.
Hart is a utility knife who can do a little bit of everything, and with Jalen Brunson back, Hart can focus more on the rebounds and assists, as opposed to scoring.
Hart has exceeded this 13.5 RA line in 88% of games without Julius Randle this season. He is coming off one of the rare misses at just 11 against Orlando — his other miss was also against Orlando.
The contributions from both crashing the glass and dropping dimes are there for Hart. Although this should be a slower-paced game, that has not impacted him besides in matchups with the Magic. Philadelphia is fifth-worst in Rebounding Rate and seventh-worst in Defensive Rating over the last 10 games.
I expect Hart to thrive on Sunday night and exceed 13.5 RA.
Pick: Josh Hart Over 13.5 Rebounds + Assists
Timberwolves vs. Lakers
The Lakers and Wolves are two teams that stayed relatively similar in roster construction from last season to now. They also met in last year’s Play-In Tournament without Karl-Anthony Towns, and the Lakers handled business as they showed a clear matchup advantage.
The Lakers have big wing options to throw at Anthony Edwards on the perimeter, and Anthony Davis looms behind protecting the rim. Towns will miss his fifth game of the season, and I do not think the Wolves have fully adapted to playing without him.
Let’s continue to take advantage that the Lakers’ vets will be able to defend the Wolves’ plentiful pick-and-rolls.
