Suns vs. Raptors
By Joe Dellera
The Suns head to Toronto to take on the Raptors and Kevin Durant may return from injury. Overall, the Suns have been dominant lately, ripping off seven consecutive victories.
In this matchup, the Suns are clearly the better team and have been throughout the season. Phoenix has a +4.0 Net Rating compared to a -1.1 for the Raptors, per Basketball Reference. Additionally, Phoenix continues to thrive from midrange and that is a shot that the Raptors allow at a moderate frequency.
These teams split their matchups last season, but neither matchup featured Kevin Durant or Devin Booker. The Suns should take care of business today as a more rested team, having last played on Sunday compared to the Raptors playing last night.
Pick: Suns -2.5
Rockets vs. Nuggets
I'm betting as if Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray — yes, that Jamal Murray — are playing. Murray was upgraded to questionable this week after missing 11 games with a hamstring issue. The Rockets will also be traveling for the second leg of a back-to-back.
Aaron Gordon (heel) is also questionable and nearly played earlier this week.
I think the Nuggets offense has a spot here to get it going against what's been a really good Rockets defense this season. But they just gave up 121 in a loss to the Dallas Mavericks and get the Nuggets on the second of a back-to-back.
IF IF IF IF IF health permits for Denver regarding Jokic, Murray and Gordon, I like this over.
Pick: Over 217 (-112)
Clippers vs. Kings
By Jim Turvey
The Great Clippers Experiment has had its rocky moments so far, to say the least, but one area which, somewhat surprisingly, has been a success of late is the team's defense.
Despite James Harden's reputation for anything but defense, the team has settled into the second-best non-garbage time defense in the past two weeks, per Cleaning the Glass. That has played a role in the Clippers game total now having gone under in eight straight games.
Their opponent on Wednesday, the Sacramento Kings, are also a unit not typically thought of for their defense, but their D has ratcheted up in recent weeks as well, with the Kings owning the 10th best non-garbage time defense since mid-November, compared to their overall season rank of 18th.
(During this same stretch, both offenses have basically stayed exactly even with their season-long rankings.)
Add in the fact that the Kings just played an exhausting and emotionally draining affair on Tuesday night against the Warriors, and there's a great elixir for an under.
Now, the market has opened by going the other direction, so I'll wait to see just how good a number I can get, but I would play this under 229.5 if the steam reverses and starts heading the other direction. But there's no rush to get it right now.
Pick: Under 231.5
Suns vs. Raptors
By PJ Walsh
Phoenix opened at -1 against Toronto, but wiseguys were quick to pounce on that number, driving the price up to a consensus of -3 as of the time of writing.
The Action Network's NBA PRO betting tools have tracked multiple steam moves on the Suns, confirming that sharp action is reason for the 2-point line move.
Steam refers to sudden, uniform line movement across the market that is often the result of bettors with the resources and respect to move odds getting down on the same side of the same game at multiple sportsbooks, all at once.
Interestingly, while most sportsbooks are at Suns -3, BetMGM is still offering this line at -2.5, so be sure to shop for the best odds if backing Phoenix on Wednesday night.
