Trail Blazers vs. Nets
By Joe Dellera
Simons missed some time due to illness and returned on a minutes limit, but this will be his third game back. Generally, he has averaged 32.8 minutes per game this season and is a prolific 3-point shooter. He is averaging 3.4 makes on 8.9 attempts this season and has little difficulty getting up shots.
Today he faces a Nets team that allows its opponents to take the seventh-most above the break 3s while shooting 37.6% from there, per Cleaning the Glass. Simons takes 41% of his looks from this spot.
This is a shot that other ball-dominant guards have taken advantage of against the Nets recently. With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Fred VanVleet, CJ McCollum, Cade Cunningham and Jamal Murray exceeding their 3-point props against the Nets over the last few weeks.
When Simons has played 30+ minutes, he has made 4+ 3s in six of nine games this season. Even if he does not reach 30 minutes, he cleared this line in both games against the Nets last season, one of which he played a touch fewer than 30 minutes.
Pick: Anfernee Simons Over 3.5 Made 3s
Pelicans vs. Kings
By Joe Dellera
The Kings face the Pelicans tonight, and there will be a showdown in the paint between Domantas Sabonis for the Kings and Zion Williamson and Jonas Valanciunas for the Pelicans.
This is a matchup where Sabonis has had inconsistent scoring against this archetype of center, but he has been a strong facilitator nonetheless.
Over the last few seasons while Sabonis has been on the Kings, he has averaged 8.8 assists against Valanciunas, including three triple doubles in six games.
Couple this with the fact that he has averaged 9.3 assists alongside De’Aaron Fox over his last 10 games, and this is a great spot for Sabonis to dish.
I’ll take his base over at 7.5 assists and grab some triple double at +280.
Pick: Domantas Sabonis Over 7.5 Assists
Raptors vs. Warriors
By Maltman
I dove into Quickley on Friday, but his playmaking usage with the Raptors continues to increase by game.
- His first game with the Raptors: 43 passes, 4 potential assists, 3 assists
- Second game: 34 passes, 8 potential assists, 5 assists
- Third game: 63 passes, 14 potential assists, 8 assists
He is becoming the point guard and more comfortable in Toronto.
While he has shot poorly, he is still averaging 20 points with the Raptors, but if he shot closer to his averages with the Knicks, he’d be averaging closer to 23. The Warriors’ perimeter defense hasn’t been the best this year, either.
I bet .25 units on over 4.5 assists at +140 and also .35 units on over 19.5 points at -120 on DraftKings/PointsBet.
This game against the Warriors should be close, as both of these teams have played a lot of close games, so I’m also laying .1 units on Quickley to have 8+ assists and 20+ points at +1800 on PointsBet.
