The Atlanta Hawks and Philadelphia 76ers meet for the fourth and final time this season tonight in Atlanta. The Hawks are looking for their fourth straight victory, while the 76ers are playing the second night of a back-to-back on the road at State Farm Arena.
Let's get into the matchup and break down how to bet 76ers vs. Hawks.
Philadelphia 76ers
The 76ers play their next to last regular season game tonight in Atlanta. Philadelphia will be without Joel Embiid, while Tyrese Maxey and De’Anthony Melton are both currently listed as doubtful. Philadelphia is coming off a 28-point home loss at the hands of the Miami Heat.
The Sixers don't have much to play for tonight. They have already locked up the 3rd seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs. Philadelphia currently has a 52-28 overall record and have posted a 45-33 ATS record on the season making them the second most profitable ATS team in the league this year.
The 76ers and leading MVP Candidate Joel Embiid have bigger fish to fry than what is a meaningless game for them tonight in Atlanta. Philadelphia needs to go a deep playoff run this season. If they don’t the process could look much different next season. Philadelphia will be playing either the Miami Heat or Brooklyn Nets to start their playoff run.
Atlanta Hawks
Unlike, the 76ers the Hawks still have something to play for this evening. Atlanta is currently the eighth seed in the Eastern Conference, they have already clinched a spot in the play-in tournament. They are only a game ahead of the Raptors in the ninth spot, they will need to win tonight or their road to the playoffs could get tougher.
The issue for the Hawks is after a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals just two seasons ago, they have been in a play-in tournament each of the last two seasons. They have also had three head coaches in just over three seasons. New head coach Quinn Synder is 10-8 straight up I think there could be major changes in Atlanta this offseason.
76ers-Hawks Pick
The Hawks basically have a must-win game tonight vs. the Sixers' B-team, but a double-digit spread seems a bit too high. The Hawks are 15-18 as home favorites this season. That's a 45% success rate.
To be fair over the past month they are 4-3 ATS as home favorites. This is a tough game to handicap. Motivations this late in the season are tough to gauge.
I would not bet on this game. If you must, I would recommend taking the points with the Sixers. I would bet them at +10, but nothing shorter than that.
Lean: Sixers +10.5
