Providence looks to keep its hot start to the conference season rolling as it plays host to Seton Hall on Wednesday. The Friars come into this game with a 2-0 record in the Big East thanks to back-to-back wins over Marquette and Butler. This is Providence's fifth consecutive home game, and it hasn't played away from Rhode Island since December 5.
Seton Hall has had an up and down start to the season, as it's currently holding a 1-1 record in the Big East with an impressive win at home over UConn and a blowout loss on the road at Xavier. The Pirates have been a very different team depending on the venue, as they're 7-1 at home and just 1-4 in road games or at a neutral site.
Providence is a very tough place to play, so it's not difficult to see the home/away splits continuing in this game.
Halfway through December, it looked like Seton Hall's season was falling apart. The Pirates had lost four of five games and didn't earn a win against a top-100 opponent through their first four chances.
Then they rattled off three straight wins — including decisive victories over Missouri and UConn. Pirates fans once again have hope in Shaheen Holloway's team.
Seton Hall plays slow and tries to dominate the offensive boards. It ranks ninth nationally in offensive rebounding percentage, and it's a good category for it to win since it's not the best shooting team (29% from outside).
The Pirates will need to play near their ceiling to have a chance to steal this one.
The Providence defense has been stellar through the first two months of the season. The Friars rank fifth nationally in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency, and they make it hard on opposing offenses every game from start to finish.
They're pretty good at preventing offensive rebounds, ranking 43rd in the country in defensive rebounding percentage. It won't be easy for Seton Hall to beat up Providence on the boards like it wants to.
Offensively, it's not always pretty, but Providence has multiple go-to options on that end. Whether it's Bryce Hopkins, Devin Carter or Ticket Gaines, Kim English has more scoring answers than Holloway does at Seton Hall (the Pirates lean very heavily on Kadary Richmond to be a one-dimensional scoring anchor).
These teams met twice last season, and surprisingly, the road team won each time. Seton Hall actually destroyed Providence, 82-58, on Senior Night to end the regular season last year.

Betting Pick & Prediction
The home/road splits are too much to overlook here. Providence is 10-0 at home, with all of its wins coming by 10 or more points.
Until Seton Hall strings together more impressive results away from home, it makes sense to back the Friars in decisive fashion.
Take Providence to cover.
Pick: Providence -5.5
