Providence Friars 2021-22 Season
The Friars missed the NCAA Tournament in 2020-21 for just the second time under head coach Ed Cooley, with the only other time coming in his very first season running the program. Providence was knocked out of the first round of the NIT, ending a troubling 18-16 season.
But the Friars have new life in 2021-22, entering Week 15 of the season as the No. 8 team in the country in the AP Top 25. While they just fell to No. 10 Villanova and are likely to fall a bit, Providence has four ranked wins on their resume and will get the chance at redemption against the Wildcats in the final game of the regular season. Led by center Nate Watson and guards Al Durham and Jared Bynum, this team has an opportunity to bring Cooly past the second round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time – and for the first time in program history since the 90s. A Final Four berth could arguably make this the best Providence team in school history.

Betting on the Providence Friars
The Providence Friars have some tough matchups remaining in the season, so be sure to pay close attention to the odds. Here are some of the popular bet types that you can make on the Friars if you live in a legal sports betting state.
- Moneyline
- Point Spread
- Over/Under
- Props
- Futures Odds
Providence Moneyline
A moneyline bet requires a bettor to correctly pick the winner of the game. If you pick the winner of the game correctly, you will win the bet. How much you win will be determined by your wager amount and the associated moneyline for the team you bet on. Here's an example using a recent Providence game against DePaul.
- Providence -420 moneyline
- DePaul +320 moneyline
Providence is the favored team to win this game, which is indicated by the minus sign (-) next to their moneyline. DePaul is the underdog denoted by the plus sign (+) next to their moneyline. The moneyline number signifies the potential payout for each team. Someone betting on Providence would have to bet $420 to win $100 whereas a bettor would win $320 with a wager of $100 on DePaul.
Providence Point Spread
Users can also place a point spread wager on the Providence Friars. This requires a bettor to correctly select the margin of victory by a particular team, rather than simply who wins. Here's the same Providence vs. DePaul matchup as an example.
- Providence -9 (-110)
- DePaul +9 (-110)
Oddsmakers set a margin of victory total known as the spread. In this game, Providence has to win by 10 or more points to beat this spread and DePaul either has to win the game outright or lose by 8 points or less to beat the spread. If the game ends with a 9-point Providence win, it’s a push. Point spreads also have an additional element known as juice, or the vig, which is the tax paid to the sportsbook for each bet. The juice is indicated next to the point spread. This number is used to determine a wager payout. For a bet on Providence, a bettor would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked. Someone betting on DePaul would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked.
Providence Over/Unders
Betting on over/under totals looks at the cumulative final score between two teams, not the winner or loser of the game. Bettors are required to accurately predict if the teams combine higher or lower than a number set by oddsmakers. Oddsmakers set the over/under total for Providence vs. DePaul at 132.5 points.
- Over 132.5 points (-118)
- Under 132.5 points (-110)
Again, juice or vig comes into play with over/unders. Betting over 132.5 points means in this case that a bettor would have to wager $118 to earn $100. Betting under 132.5 points would mean a bettor would earn $100 for every $110 risked.
Providence Prop Bets
For those Providence fans that have a particular favorite player, prop bets are a great way to show your support. Oddsmakers will also set lines on player statistics. Bettors then have the opportunity to guess whether those players will go over or under the set line to win money. Some popular prop bets include how many points a player will score, who will score first, how many rebounds a player gets, and many more.
Providence Future Odds
If you like Providence’s odds to make the Final Four or win the NCAA Tournament, take a look at futures odds . A futures bet is wager for an event happening in the later in the season. Because a futures bet can be really hard to predict, the payouts are much higher than a typical wager. The Friars are currently +8000 to win the NCAA Tournament, according to Caesars Sportsbook – check out our Caesars Promo Code page today and get to winning ASAP.
