Follow On X: https://x.com/PicksOffice Although both starters this afternoon-White Sox right-hander Nick Nastrini and Oriole Cade Povich-have had disastrous seasons, each has improved some of late to suggest they can help keep this game under the total. Most indicative of this is the season ERA of 7.04 that Nastrini has shaved down to a 3.77 over his last three starts. Povich has an alarming 7.36 ERA over his past three assignments, but his .456 xERA suggests that he may not be quite as bad as those surface numbers indicate. Trends are heavily in the direction of both sides to a low-scoring game. The "Under" has come through in six of the last eight games where the White Sox have been an underdog and Baltimore has seen the total go under in 23 of their last 32 games after winning. Bullpens are also on the side of the Under for both teams. Over the last five games, the White Sox have a bullpen ERA at 3.56, and the Baltimore bullpen has been quite consistent that year as their season ERA is at 3.63 and 2.75 during that same period. More importantly, Baltimore's bullpen has a WHIP of just 1.14 which will do wonders to limit the opportunities late in the game. Offensively, both teams have seemed to be struggling at times with no worse offender than the White Sox, who, in the last five games are hitting only .174 with a .238 OBP. Their overall anemic offense in this span, 1.6 runs per game, sets up an under lean based on that alone. Baltimore has been a far better offense but their average dips against right handed pitchers and that should serve to temper its score against Nastrini. In addition, umpire Hunter Wendelstedt's history suggests that a low-scoring game is likely; his games throughout the season have averaged runs scored of just 7.96, further supporting a low-scoring affair.
