Perhaps it wouldn't have mattered, but this late defensive penalty that put Kansas City in position to win Super Bowl 57 certainly had social media and NFL fans talking.

A few short plays later, the Chiefs took the lead with just seconds remaining on their way to claiming the Lombardi Trophy.

There's no better time to take a deep shot than on first down at midfield, as the Eagles showed late in the fourth quarter of what's turning out to be one of the most entertaining Super Bowls of all time.

DeVonta Smith set Philadelphia up for the game-tying touchdown as the Eagles converted the 2-point conversion following a Jalen Hurts sneak for six. And since Hurts was the one who scored the 2-point conversion as well, we officially had ourselves an OCTOPUS!

For those unaware, an octopus prop is when a player scores both a touchdown and the ensuing 2-point conversion. The odds of one happening in Super Bowl 57 were anywhere from +1100 to +1400, depending on the book.

That was Hurts' third rushing touchdown of the game. He was +2150 to score at least three touchdowns.

Kadarius Toney laid down the longest punt return in Super Bowl history at 65 yards, setting up a Skyy Moore touchdown to give the Chiefs a 35-27 lead. Moore was +800 to score a touchdown.

That second-quarter ankle injury wasn't enough to slow down the Chiefs quarterback, as Patrick Mahomes threw his second touchdown (-250 to have two passing touchdowns in the game) to give the Chiefs their first lead of Super Bowl 57. Kadarius Toney, meanwhile, was +235 on the anytime touchdown line.

Despite the Kansas City lead, the Eagles remained 1.5-point favorites on the live spread, with the live total set at 64.5 after the score.

The third quarter saw its fair share of officiating controversy, as a potential turnover forced by the Chiefs was overturned when an Eagles catch was ruled incomplete. Then, this Dallas Goedert reception on 3rd and long stood upon further review.

The Chiefs needed a hot start to the third quarter, and Isiah Pacheco provided it by cashing as a +155 anytime touchdown scorer.

That touchdown was set up by a Mahomes scramble for 14 yards, which sent the Chiefs quarterback over his rushing yardage total of 24.5, despite his aggravated ankle injury.

OK, maybe not exactly. But during Rihanna's incredible halftime performance, the Chiefs went from +370 on the live moneyline to +280, despite Patrick Mahomes' apparent ankle injury.

Mahomes' health was always going to be one of the biggest questions of Super Bowl 57. Late in the second quarter on Sunday, the Chiefs' worst fears seemed to become reality. However, the Kansas City quarterback came roaring back in the second half, to say the last.

One possession after his fumble led a Chiefs defensive touchdown, Hurts got one back with his second rushing touchdown of the game. At the time, that matched Jim McMahon for most rushing touchdowns in a Super Bowl by a quarterback, before Hurts added a third.

Hurts was +500 to score two touchdowns. The Philly quarterback also went over his rushing total of 57.5 with that run, although kneel-downs could always bring that number back down.

Hurts lost the rock early in the second quarter and gave the Chiefs an opportunity for a defensive score to tie things up at 14, moving the live spread back to its pregame state of Eagles -1.5.

But, you know. He made up for it.

An absolutely incredible catch from A.J. Brown gave the Eagles a 14-7 lead in the second quarter, pushing Philadelphia to -3.5 on the live spread and the live total to 60.5.

Brown was +125 as an anytime touchdown scorer, and with that catch, he had tallied 52 yards toward his receiving over/under of 61.5.

What's more satisfying than the sound of a good ol' "DOINK"? Cashing a Super Bowl 57 prop bet on a kick hitting the upright at +450, of course.

Maybe it should have gone "CHA-CHING" instead! Anyone? … anyone?

Travis Kelce to score an anytime touchdown at anywhere from -115 to -125 was such a popular prop bet that one oddsmaker told our Darren Rovell it felt like the public thought the bet was all but guaranteed to hit.

Apparently, the public knew best. Kelce's touchdown moved the live spread back to Eagles -1.5, with the live over moving on up to 59.5.

It looked like Kenneth Gainwell found pay dirt to open the scoring in Super Bowl 57, but after he was ruled down upon further review, Jalen Hurts got the job done at +800 to be the game's first touchdown scorer. He was also -105 to score a touchdown at any point in the game.

With the score, the Eagles moved to -3.5 on the live spread, with the live total at 55.5.

National Anthem Over … or Under?

.@ChrisStapleton brings the house down with his performance of the National Anthem! #SBLVIIpic.twitter.com/iiRzjVcByW

β€” NFL (@NFL) February 12, 2023

A soulful rendition of the National Anthem by Chris Stapleton left Eagles coach Nick Sirianni emotional … and bettors a little bit confused.

Many books had the over/under on the National Anthem at 2:02 when it was live earlier last week and this week, before rehearsal results started to leak and the number moved up or, in some cases, came off the board completely.

Stapleton's rendition of the anthem clocked in between 2:02 and 2:03, meaning many bettors cashed that initial over, while those who had under on 2:03 (or even higher, up to 2:05 at some books) also cashed.
