Seton Hall and Marquette both return from their holiday break to a highly-contested Big East matchup.

This will be the third Big East game this season for both teams.

Seton Hall is looking for its first conference win of the season after losing to Providence and Xavier in close games.

On the other side, Marquette is 1-1, beating Creighton before falling to Providence in a 2OT thriller.

Marquette has been exceptional at home this year, holding a 7-1 record coming into Tuesday's matchup.

Seton Hall, on the other hand, has very limited experience in true road environments. The Pirates have played on the road just three times, going 1-2 in those contests.

After a seven-day break for both teams, this matchup will be crucial in terms of building momentum before conference play really turns up a notch.

Seton Hall Pirates

The Pirates travel to Milwaukee with a 6-7 record and a hunger to get their first Big East win of the season. This would also be the first conference win for first-year head coach Shaheen Holloway.

Although the Pirates have struggled to find consistency this season, they have shown competence on both ends of the floor.

On offense, the Pirates have an attack that can be led by a few different players night in and night out.

As of late, this has been Kadary Richmond. The 6-foot-6 guard has gone for 28 and 17 points in the Pirates' first two conference games.

In terms of game in the post, Kadary Richmond is the best guard I've seen in recent college seasons.

The 6-6 floor general put up a huge 28 point-performance against a tough Providence squad.

Richmond's emergence is crucial for a Seton Hall team whose weakness has been on the offensive end this season. The Pirates have struggled offensively, given their high turnover% and reliance on the charity stripe.

Because of this, Seton Hall scores 25.2% of its total points from the free-throw line, which is the seventh-highest rate in the country.

If the Pirates are able to develop a more balanced offensive attack through the emergence of players such as Richmond, this free-throw line dependence will decrease.

Additionally, the Pirates have been their own worst enemy on offense, turning the ball over on an astounding 22.1% of their possessions (329th nationally).

Although it has been their Achilles' heel, if the Pirates are able to continue to develop offensive weapons and take better care of the basketball, their offensive numbers will improve.

Marquette Golden Eagles

The Golden Eagles, who have been driven by their impressive offensive play, will have one of their toughest defensive matchups against Seton Hall on Tuesday.

The Pirates rank 20th nationally in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency by utilizing their length and size to force their opponents into poor shot selection.

So far this season, Seton Hall has ranked top-60 nationally in both 3P% and 2P% allowed. Much of this is due to the Pirates' combination of size, experience and depth.

The Pirates rank 30th nationally in bench minutes (38.6%), 25th in D-I experience (2.9 years) and 52nd in average height (78.0").

The Pirates have turned these roster statistics into positive defensive plays such as turnovers, blocks and steals this season (ranking inside the top 75 in all three categories).

Seton Hall has the pieces on defense to slow down a Marquette team that has been defined by its explosive offensive play.

If the Pirates are able to limit Marquette offensively, this will open the door for SHU's improving offense to keep things close.

Seton Hall vs. Marquette Betting Pick

Tuesday's matchup with Marquette is a perfect opportunity for Holloway to notch his first Big East win.

The Pirates' defensive advantage will frustrate a Marquette offense that will likely come out rusty after a seven-day hiatus. This limited production for Marquette will give Seton Hall an opportunity to showcase its offensive development through the play of guys such as Richmond.

Lastly, if the Pirates are able to take better care of the basketball, they will have a serious opportunity to leave Milwaukee with a victory.

I will gladly take the points with a Seton Hall team that is upset-minded.
