We get a taste of Big Ten action as the Maryland Terrapins travel to Bloomington, Indiana, to take on the Indiana Hoosiers.
Maryland comes into this matchup having easily dispatched its past three opponents, but that comes after losing three of its first four games of the season, all to quality opponents.
As for the Hoosiers, they are rolling into this matchup at 5-1. The one loss was a big one to the reigning national champions, the UConn Huskies.
Looking at the Terrapins, the one quality that jumps out is their experience. They are the 48th-most experienced team in the country, according to KenPom, and many of their leaders have become household names if you've followed the Big 10 the past few years.
However, that continuity hasn't led to much success on the offensive end of the floor. Maryland is 116th in adjusted offensive efficiency and 260th in effective field goal percentage.
The offensive struggles stem from the performances of Maryland's two stars, Jahmir Young and Julian Reese. Neither has gotten off to a great start, as Young is shooting 38% from the field and Reese is shooting 56%.
Tonight's matchup may only amplify their shooting woes as the Hoosiers boast a ton of size, which will contain Reese on the low block and make every drive hard for Young. This matchup could come down to the Terrapins' ability to convert high-percentage looks. If they can't, this could get away from them.
The Hoosiers wasted no time replenishing their size after Trayce Jackson-Davis went off to the NBA. Indiana is the fifth-tallest team in the nation and has flexed its size in the early going.
Indiana has been highly efficient in the paint, shooting over 60% on 2-pointers, which is good for 14th in the country. The duo of sophomore Malik Reneau and Oregon transfer Kel'el Ware deserve much of the credit as they are shooting a combined 62% from the field.
It will be interesting to see them match up against Maryland as the Terrapins' calling card has been their defense. However, nearly 58% of the points the Terrapins have allowed this season have come from inside the arc.

Oddsmakers project this game to be tight, and there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding both clubs. However, the Hoosiers have the edge as their size on the inside will help create high-percentage shots on offense and stifle the Terrapins on the other end of the floor.
