Below, we have Texas A&M-CC vs Texas odds and a pick for Friday.
Two teams on winning streaks will put their good form to the test when they face off on Friday afternoon in Austin, Texas. The Texas Longhorns have won eight of their first 10 games, and Rodney Terry's squad is still forming an identity early in the season. They will take on the Texas A&M-CC Islanders, who own a winning record of 6-5 through their first 11 games.
The Islanders have faced some great teams already, playing Houston and Texas Tech in November. They couldn't keep up with Houston, but they gave Texas Tech a close game before ultimately losing by single digits. Jim Shaw's squad struggles to shoot from outside but has a solid defense and will not be spooked by the Longhorns' home environment at the Moody Center.
The Longhorns have been magnificent against the worst teams on their schedule and extremely underwhelming against the best opponents they have faced. They still do not own a win against a top-100 team, but their worst loss was a true road game to Marquette. The Islanders are the type of team that Texas normally handles with ease, but we will see if that continues on Friday.
Texas A&M-CC is ranked 280th on KenPom, and while the Islanders have won three straight, the best of those wins came against Nebraska Omaha — and the Mavericks are ranked 276th by Kenpom.
As a team, the Islanders' offense really struggles to score. They play a fast tempo at 82nd nationally but do not generate easy buckets from anywhere on the court. They shoot just 36% from 3-point range as a team and only make 44% from inside the arc, which both rank 327th or worse in those categories nationally.
If there is one strength for this team, it is rebounding. They rank 64th in the country in Offensive Rebound Rate and 20th in the country in preventing offensive boards. They will need to generate some second chances against Texas, who is not particularly imposing on the boards, to hang in this game.
Texas' backcourt is one of the best in the country on paper. Max Abmas and Tyrese Hunter both transferred in from Oral Roberts and Iowa State respectively, and they can beat you on both sides of the ball.
Abmas is a prolific scorer, and he is getting more comfortable for the Longhorns. He has topped 20 points or more in four of his last five games. The Islanders do not have anyone who can keep up with Abmas, and this is the type of game he feasts on.

The Longhorns are better offensively than they are on the defensive end, ranking 24th in Adjusted Offensive Efficiency and just 68th in Adjusted Defensive Efficiency. There just is not much for Texas to worry about from Texas A&M-CC on the offensive end, so they should be fine in this game.
Add in that Dylan Disu just got healthy and made his season debut in their most recent game against LSU, and the Longhorns should have even more firepower. Disu was the Most Outstanding Player in the 2023 Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship and averaged 22.5 points and 10.0 rebounds in two NCAA tournament games before getting injured.

Betting Pick & Prediction
This is the type of game that Texas always performs best in. They have beaten all three of the opponents that they have faced that are ranked in the 200s on KenPom or worse by 27 points or more. The Longhorns should roll here.
