Miami and Boston College play in the first round of the ACC tournament on Tuesday for their third meeting of the season.

Coming into the year, nobody would've thought Boston College would have a chance at a three-game sweep of the defending national runner-ups.

Sadly for Miami, that's the case. The Canes had such an up and down season, as injuries derailed their path.

In those two matchups against BC, Miami looked OK out the gates, but they ended up being fairly easy wins for the Eagles.

Miami Hurricanes

Miami was an extremely volatile bunch this year. It nearly beat North Carolina, and on the other hand, it lost on its own floor to one of the worst high-major teams in the country, Louisville.

The Canes' volatility may be a good thing for a tournament setting, though. No one questions their talent level, and they have zero pressure given that they aren't going dancing barring a miracle ACC tournament title.

Nigel Pack hasn't been at his best this season, but he's a veteran player who's proven to make it happen in big moments. Miami will lean on him to find the hot hand from beyond the arc, as it'll need 3s to get by Boston College.

Boston College Eagles

Boston College has been a feisty team this season and surely exceeded expectations. The trio of Quinten Post, Claudell Harris Jr. and Jaeden Zackery is the entire livelihood of this Eagles team. They average over 40 points per game combined.

The Eagles should be very confident heading into this one because of the success they've had against Miami this season.

Betting Pick & Prediction

I'm not envisioning Boston College beating Miami three times in a season. Sure, this Hurricane team is not the same from the last few NCAA tournament teams, but they still have veteran presences and a coach who has plenty of postseason experience.

Miami has the ceiling to run with anyone in the ACC, and I will buy that in a tournament setting.

Outside of just the ceiling, the Canes have the infrastructure to easily shut down Boston College's strengths.

Norchad Omier can easily limit Quinten Post down low, and Nigel Pack and Wooga Poplar can out shoot Boston College's guards if the game goes that route.

I see multiple paths for Miami to get the job done in round one of the ACC tournament.

Pick: Miami -2.5
