It's time to dive into the Auburn Tigers vs Georgia Bulldogs odds and make a prediction in this SEC showdown for Saturday, Feb. 24.

The SEC regular-season title race is heating up.

Just a few days ago, Auburn and Alabama were in the driver's seat to have a perfect path for an "Iron Bowl" SEC Tournament Championship rematch. However, the Tigers falling to Kentucky at home threw a small wrench into that plan.

On the other side, Georgia sits in the bottom third of the conference picture, but the Bulldogs are a very feisty team and not an opponent someone wants to play on the road.

This is the first meeting of two between Auburn and Georgia this season. I know what you're thinking, and yes — Georgia and Auburn play two games over the final 2.5 weeks of the season.

It's safe to say these two will get to know each other well and could quite possibly match up again in the SEC Tournament in a few weeks.

Auburn Tigers

Auburn comes into this matchup at 9-4 in the conference and just two games behind first-place Alabama. With five games to play, it has a chance to catch the Tide, but it will require some help from the teams above.

The loss to Kentucky in a game where the Tigers were 8.5-point favorites hurts. However, they will be in pure bounce-back mode in Athens tonight.

Leaning on the excellent duo of Johni Broome and Jaylin Williams will be their formula for success. The two combine for just under 30 points per game and will be a nightmare matchup for Georgia down low.

The guard play from Auburn is excellent as well, but the advantages they have down low will be most prominent.

Georgia Bulldogs

Georgia sits at 5-8 in the conference, but opponents can't consider it a pushover. The Bulldogs have been competitive against some of the best teams in the SEC and have a win over South Carolina on the road.

Unfortunately for Georgia, it doesn't really have the infrastructure to combat Auburn down low. It will have to make its hay with its guards, which isn't exactly a recipe for success either.

Looking at their metrics, the Bulldogs rank in the top 120 in effective field goal percentage, 2-point percentage and 3 point percentage.

However, Georgia isn't an elite offensive bunch that will be able to outscore Auburn without an outlier shooting display. It will be a tough ask on both ends for the home Bulldogs.

Auburn vs Georgia

Betting Pick & Prediction

It's hard to imagine the Tigers not rolling here.

They have sizable advantages on both ends of the court and should be extremely focused after that embarrassing loss to Kentucky at home.

The spread is big for a reason, but I would imagine Auburn stepping on the gas early and not letting up.

It will take an extremely above-average shooting performance from Georgia to compete with this Auburn team under these circumstances. I don't love to lay points on the road in conference play, but I see Auburn taking care of business in this one.

Pick: Auburn -7.5
