Florida State and Georgia Tech resume conference play with Atlantic Coast Conference action on Wednesday night at the Donald L. Tucker Center in Tallahassee.
The Seminoles have sputtered after a solid start to the season, coming into the matchup with 6-6 overall record and an ACC loss at North Carolina.
Meanwhile, the Yellow Jackets recently lost in the championship game of the Diamond Head Classic to own an 8-4 mark.
This is a huge opportunity for both squads to pick up a key conference win, which should give us a great battle.
In his debut season as coach, Damon Stoudamire is off to a hot start. The former NBA star has guided his team to six wins over squads that won 20 or more games last season.
The Yellow Jackets have also matched their victory total against Quad 1 or 2 opponents from a season ago with wins over then-No. 7 Duke, Mississippi State and UMass.
Because of this, Tech has seen its NCAA Net ranking jump to 110th after its runner-up finish at the Diamond Head Classic in Hawaii. With 10 more Quad 1 opponents on their schedule, the Yellow Jackets will have plenty of opportunities to add to their resume.
One of the key performers for Stoudamire has been Baye Ndongo. The forward has won the ACC’s Rookie of the Week honor three times this season.
Last season’s leading scorer Miles Kelly is pacing Georgia Tech again at 14.8 points per game. With the new energy on the coaching staff and talented freshmen, the Yellow Jackets are poised to make some noise in the ACC this season.

Unlike Tech, Florida State has a familiar face still roaming the sidelines as the leader of the program in veteran coach Leonard Hamilton. However, this has been a difficult start to the season for the Seminoles.
The tricky schedule has done Hamilton no favors. On the season, FSU's strength of schedule ranks in the Top 80 by KenPom.
The Seminoles have faced four teams that are inside the top 100 in the NET, and this doesn’t include games against UNLV, Georgia and Lipscomb.
One thing is for sure, Hamilton’s team is battle-tested before heading into conference play. Now the Seminoles must start picking up wins to stay in the hunt for an invite to the Big Dance.

Betting Pick & Prediction
In a game where the defenses are better than both offenses, the team that gets more shots and extra possessions is the side I want. I trust the opportunities more with the visitors.
So, my best bet is to take Georgia Tech at +4, which I would play to +3. I do expect you can get a better number if you wait until closer to the opening tip.
For starters, the Yellow Jackets have a clear advantage on the glass where they rank 19th in the country in offensive rebounding by Bart Torvik. Meanwhile, only Syracuse is worse than Florida State at claiming defensive rebounds.
The Seminoles are also outside the top 330 in opponent free throw rate. This should allow Tech second-chance shots or to live at the foul line.
I also like the fact that the Yellow Jackets have shown they can play well away from home. Outside of the recent run in Hawaii, they also have a win over Penn State in Madison Square Garden.
I’ll take my chance with the road underdog in what is likely going to be a low-scoring affair.
Pick: Georgia Tech +4 (Play to +3)
