Twins vs Diamondbacks MLB Betting Preview

Minnesota Twins Betting Preview

After yesterday's 16-run outburst, the Twins are just four games under 500. and appear to be righting the ship. While it is safe to say that this team has been playing over its head, credit is due, especially considering how hot their bats have been over the past three weeks.

In that span, Minnesota has the third-highest wRC+ and the fourth-lowest strikeout rate. It will be interesting to see if their hot streak can continue this afternoon as they'll have to contend with Jose Cabrera, who's making his major league debut.

The 24-year-old right-hander has a 3.69 ERA across 15 minor league starts this season. He has struck out 26% of batters, but has been plagued by the longball at an unlucky rate, considering his flyball rate is relatively low.

Sneakily, the Diamondbacks delayed announcing Cabrera as the starter as long as possible, so we may see the Twins struggle the first time through the order as they generate a scouting report.

Arizona Diamondbacks Betting Preview

On the other side of this matchup, the Diamondbacks have been about as cold as you can get at the dish. Over the last three weeks, they have been last in wRC+and BABIP, while also holding the second-lowest ISO.

This is a team that has had a high quantity of contact but no high-quality contact. That is the recipe for quick outs, which will be of great benefit to the Twins starter Mike Paredes.

Paredes is set to make his third start of the season, and has qualities that play right into the Diamondbacks tendencies. Paredes is a strike thrower who has severely limited loud contact thus far.

Given how the Diamonbacks have been lately, we could see Paredes cruise through this order at least twice.

Twins vs Diamondbacks Pick, Betting Analysis

There is quite a bit of uncertainty in this matchup, given Jose Cabrera's debut and Mike Paredes's small sample size. However, that can work to our advantage and amplify what we do know.

The Diamondbacks' lineup is in the midst of a downward spiral, while the Twins are likely going to be wishing they saved some runs from last night.

Take the under.

Pick: Under 9.5 (-122, FanDuel) | Play to 9
