Angels vs Blue Jays Expert MLB Picks
Story: Back Yesavage to Stay Hot on the Bump
The Angels go on the road to Toronto for the first of a three-game set versus the Blue Jays on Saturday afternoon at the Rogers Centre.
Below, I will provide a few same-game-parlay picks that you can use as betting angles before wagering on Saturday's American League clash.
Leg 1: Blue Jays F5 ML
Los Angeles’ right-hander Jack Kochanowicz looks to continue his elite form on the mound over the first six weeks of the season, while Jays’ youngster Trey Yesavage will look to do the same after an impressive first couple of outings since returning from the 15-Day IL.
Toronto’s 22-year-old righty was a first-round draft pick for the Blue Jays in 2024, and heading into last season was one of the top pitching prospects in all of baseball.
Despite starting just three games in 2025 as a rookie and having just recovered from a shoulder injury in spring training, there has been zero learning curve thus far for the Jays’ 22-year-old, who has recorded an exceptional 0.96 ERA across his first two starts.
Yesavage has surrendered just one run across the first nine frames of his second season in the Big Leagues, and appears to be living up to his prospect hype as a top-20 draft pick out of East Carolina.
Like Yesavage, Kochanowicz is in some solid form on the mound across his first seven starts of his 2026 campaign. The 25-year-old has recorded an impressive 3.05 ERA thus far, ranking inside the top-40.
The 6-foot-7 right-hander has allowed 14 earned runs across 41 innings this season, but has a very tough matchup on Friday night versus a Blue Jays’ star-studded lineup that nearly led them to a World Series in 2025.
Despite Kochanowicz's form on the bump, the Angels’ righty has a pretty subpar previous history versus this Toronto lineup, having allowed a .350 AVG to the Jays collectively over 40 plate appearances.
While I still expect this game to trend towards the under, considering the form of both starters, I feel good backing the Jays in the first five innings as the first leg of our SGP ahead of Friday night’s contest.
Leg 2: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. o1.5 HRR
For the second leg of our SGP ahead of Friday night’s American League showdown, I will be targeting Jays’ superstar Vladimir Guerrero Jr. in the HRR (Hits + Runs + RBIs) player prop market.
As mentioned, Kochanowicz has largely struggled against a Blue Jays lineup boasting elite heavy-contact and impressive plate-discipline in the box. In six career at-bats versus the Angels’ righty, Vladdy Jr has the edge with the Toronto superstar having recorded three hits in the process.
Like Guerrero, several other hitters in this versatile Jays’ lineup have also found prior success versus Kochanowicz, some of whom include Daulton Varsho, Lenyn Sosa, and Ernie Clement.
Given the prior success Guerrero and several other Blue Jay hitters have had versus Los Angeles’ right-hander, I expect Toronto to have a decent amount of runners on the base path throughout the game.
Given his efficiency at the plate thus far, currently ranking inside the top-15 in baseball with a .320 AVG, the Jays’ star should have plenty of opportunities to either drive a runner home, or to score a run himself (in addition to recording a hit).
While Kochanowicz could certainly hold his own on Friday night, given his stellar start to the season, I still feel great backing Vladdy to exceed his 1.5 HRR mark in the comfort of the Jays’ own ballpark.
- Blue Jays F5 ML
- Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Over 1.5 HRR
Parlay Odds: +107 (FanDuel)
