Dortmund and Chelsea headline the Wednesday slate of the UEFA Champions League as Dortmund host the Blues in the first leg of their round of 16 draw. It will be the first-ever meeting in the history of the European powerhouses.

The German squad is in the midst of a six-game winning streak and has moved up to third place in the Bundesliga, behind first-place Bayern Munich and Union Berlin.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are in ninth place in the Premier League table. However, they should feel slightly optimistic about their previous outings. They are in the midst of their own four-game unbeaten run, even though three of those are draws.

Will Chelsea be able to build upon their recent performances and ignite a CL run, or will Dortmund mirror their strong form and take care of business in their home leg?

Here is our breakdown of the Dortmund vs. Chelsea odds, and my pick for the Champions League showdown on Wednesday.

Dortmund are Getting Production From Everyone

Confidence is at an all-time for manager Edin Terzić's young team, resulting in mass production from everyone on the pitch.

Dortmund are yet to lose a match since the return of league play after the World Cup. It is their best run of results since they won 10 straight between April and August 2021. During their six-match run, they have seen 10 different goal scorers.

Of those 10, one of them is young superstar Jude Bellingham. The Englishman is instrumental in the Bundesliga club's midfield. Terzić named the teenager team captain over the summer and recently called him, "the oldest 19-year old player worldwide."

He leads the team in goals with 10 across all competitions as well as attacking sequence involvements. His ability to continue to work magic on the pitch and bring the most out of his teammates like Marco Reus, Julian Brandt and Giovanni Reyna will be essential if BVB are to advance beyond this stage.

Chelsea Still Finding Chemistry

Chelsea have played their best soccer in the Champions League this year. Head coach Graham Potter is yet to lose in the competition since taking over for previous manager Tomas Tuchel, going unbeaten in his first five UCL matches.

However, this is not the same team that was on the field during those UCL matches in the final months of 2022. Chelsea acquired eight new players during the winter transfer window, including Enzo Fernández, Joao Felix ( on loan from Atletico Madrid) and Mykhailo Mudryk.

With the additions, the Blues are a better team on paper, but unfortunately for them the game is played on the pitch, and it is clear that chemistry is just not yet there amongst the newly pieced-together squad.

Chelsea's defense, however, is gelling in ways the attack is still sorting out. During their four-game unbeaten run, they have given up just one goal while averaging an impressive 0.98 xGA per match.

Dortmund vs. Chelsea Pick

According to the odds makers, this match could go either way with Dortmund priced as a marginal home favorite.

However, given the recent form of these two sides – specifically on the attacking end – Dortmund should be able to take care of business in front of their home fans.

That said, you never know when Chelsea's offense will click, so rather than taking Dortmund straight up on the ML, I'm taking the draw no bet option and their top goalscorer to produce a shot on target at plus odds.

Picks: Bellingham over 0.5 Shots On Target (+137) | Dortmund – Draw No Bet (-138)
