Here's everything you need to know about the Nashville Predators vs. Ottawa Senators on Monday, Jan. 29 – our expert NHL prediction and pick.

The under has been an immensely profitable bet whenever these two teams have squared off over the past couple of seasons, cashing in each of the past five meetings. Will it hit once again?

Let's dig into the NHL odds and make a Predators vs. Senators prediction and pick.

Nashville Predators

Nashville is currently riding a seven-game under streak, with five or fewer total goals scored in each of those seven outings. This trend is likely to continue with goaltender Juuse Saros slated to guard the cage on Monday evening.

Through 38 starts this season, Saros is 19-18-1 with a .904 SV% and 2.91 GAA. He enters this game in particularly good form, posting a commanding .930 SV% and 2.05 GAA over his past six starts.

There were five or fewer total goals scored in all six of those outings. This stretch of strong goaltending is likely to continue against the Senators, a team Saros has utterly dominated as he is 4-1 against them over his past five starts with a stellar .953 SV% and 1.60 GAA.

There were five or fewer total goals scored in all five of those games.

It also helps Saros' cause that he plays behind an effective blue line. At 5-on-5, the Preds rank 10th in the league in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60) at 5-on-5.

However, things have not gone as smoothly offensively. This season, the Predators rank in the bottom half of the league in goals scored per game, shots on goal per game, power play percentage and shooting percentage.

Ottawa Senators

This total sits as high as 6.5 because the Sens typically play a fire-wagon style of hockey under this regime. However, there have still been just five or fewer total goals scored in three of their past five games, and I believe this trend will continue on Monday.

Goaltender Joonas Korpisalo is slated to start between the pipes for the Senators, and while he has not been good, he possesses a strong track record against Nashville with a career .914 SV% and 2.87 GAA. Even if Korpisalo doesn't give us a great performance, I think he can perform well enough to keep this under alive as Ottawa is likely to struggle against the Predators' blue line and Saros.

This offense has been primed for regression, ranking 11th in goals scored per game but 21st in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) at 5-on-5. We've seen this expected regression start to set in recently, with the Sens averaging just 2.8 goals scored over their past five games.

Betting Pick & Prediction

At plus-money, it's worth taking a shot on under 6.5 in Monday evening's lone NHL game. Of course, the way Ottawa plays is concerning, but that is why we are catching a good price in a matchup where the trends are all on our side in terms of the under.

Speaking of that price, BetRivers is offering Under 6.5 at +105, a line that is 5-to-10 cents longer than the rest of the market. Saros and Nashville's blue line should be able to slow down an Ottawa offense that has started to go cold and is due for further regression.

Meanwhile, Korpisalo has demonstrated that he can handle the Preds' below-average offense over the past couple of seasons. I would play this line up to +100.

Pick: Under 6.5 (+105 | Play to +100)
