The Florida Panthers have quietly been one of the best teams in hockey lately while making a strong push to get into the Eastern Conference playoffs. The Cats have now won five out of their last six games and are 7-2-1 in their last 10 overall.

The Detroit Red Wings have been trending in the exact opposite direction, really falling off in the standings after going 2-7-1 in their last 10 games. Detroit is really struggling to score goals right now.

The Panthers need all the points they can get, and this should be a fun contest.

Tkachuk Leading Florida Panthers

The Florida Panthers have been on an absolute tear, and a lot of their success is due to their offensive production.

They've scored 23 goals in their last five games, and Matthew Tkachuk is continuing to impress, tallying four goals and seven assists in that span. He has led the way for this team and has 32 goals with 60 assists in 66 games played.

Sergei Bobrovsky has put together a decent stretch of games in his last five starts, going 4-0-1. But there's still another level that he can take his game to.

Despite the winning record, Bobrovsky skated to a 3.13 goals against average and a .892 save percentage in those games.

The Cats are definitely going to give the Red Wings a strong challenge. This team's generating the most shots on goal per game, averaging 37.0, and they are also getting the most high-danger chances per game, skating to a 15.73 HDCF/60.

The Panthers are heating up, and they need to keep it rolling so they can find their way into the postseason.

Little Offense for Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings have had a really tough dropoff, losing eight out of their last 10 contests.

The Wings were in the hunt at the trade deadline to potentially make the playoffs, but now it seems that they have dug themselves into too deep of a hole.

Ville Husso hasn't been at his best, going 2-2-0 in his last four games, but his numbers have not been very good, skating to a 3.5 goals against average and a .856 save percentage.

The Red Wings have scored 13 goals in their last five games, and they're averaging 2.93 goals per game. Dylan Larkin has had a very strong season, but outside of him, there hasn't been much help when it comes to scoring.

Larkin has 25 goals and 40 assists in 67 games this year, leading the team in points, and the next player is David Perron, who has tallied 16 goals and 25 assists in 68 games.

Detroit has won two out of its last 11 games, and the Red Wings do not pose much of a threat to this Panthers team.

Panthers vs. Red Wings Pick

The Panthers have won both of the meetings with the Red Wings this season, outscoring Detroit by a combined score of 8-3. The Cats have owned the Wings in the last couple of seasons with an 18-4 record.

Matthew Tkachuk and Aleksander Barkov have combined for 18 points in their last five games, and they are also getting key contributions from Carter Verhaeghe, who has tallied 34 goals this season.

The Panthers have just absolutely exploded offensively, and I think they will keep that going against a weaker Red Wings opponent. I like the Cats to win this one in regulation, so we'll take them on the three-way line.

Pick: Florida Panthers three-way (-115 at DraftKings)
