The Dallas Stars are still sitting in first place in the Central Division, but only by one point. They have been slacking a bit in their defensive zone as of late, allowing 14 goals in their last three games.
The Seattle Kraken are seeking revenge after falling short to the Stars last week on home ice, losing by the score of 5-2. The Kraken have lost four out of their last five games and their spot in the wild-card race is certainly not solidified.
The Kraken are 1-4 in their previous five meetings against the Stars.
Seattle Kraken
The Kraken have had a very inconsistent second half of the season, but one of the positives to take away has been their record on the road. They come into this game skating to a 22-9-3 record as the away team and have won their last five straight games on the road.
Phillipp Grubauer and Martin Jones haven't been at their best, but they are continuing to split time in between the pipes. In Grubauer's last three starts he is 1-1-1 with a 3.71 goals against average and a .869 save percentage. Jones hasn't been much better; in his last two starts he is 0-2-0 with a 5.16 goals against average and a .822 save percentage.
The defense hasn't necessarily been the best part of Seattle's game. Coming into this game the Kraken are 16th in the NHL, allowing 3.19 goals against per game and they have allowed 12 goals against in their previous three games combined.
Dallas Stars
The Stars have been one of the best teams in the NHL all season and they are trying to create some separation in the Central Division. They are 7-3-0 in their last 10 games, but their goaltending hasn't been the sharpest lately either.
Jake Oettinger has had a phenomenal season and he is still finding ways to win hockey games, going 3-1-0 in his last four starts. Despite winning three out of his last four games, those games haven't been very pretty. In that span, he is skating to a .897 save percentage and a 3.17 goals against average.
Luckily for the Stars, even if their goaltending isn't at it's best, they are still able to compete because of their offensive production. The Stars are the eighth highest-scoring team in the league, averaging 3.43 goals per game and they also have the eighth best power play unit, converting at a 23.5% rate.
The Stars have been able to dominate the Kraken and they should be able to once again.
Kraken vs. Stars Pick
The Stars have certainly been the better team as of late, but the goaltending on both sides hasn't been that strong. The Kraken and Stars are both top-10 offensive teams, averaging more than three goals per game.
The over is 9-1-1 in the last 11 games for the Stars and it is 5-1 in the Kraken's last six games.
Both team's are very high-scoring and the first line for the Stars is humming right now. Jason Robertson, Roope Hintz and Joe Pavelski have been combined for 16 points in the last five games.
As of this writing, this total sits at 6 at most sportsbooks while it has inched up to 6.5 at a few. I love the value if you can get it at 6.
Pick: Over 6 (-115)
