The Washington Capitals are looking to complete a three-game sweep on their West Coast trip as they head to Crypto.com Arena to take on the Los Angeles Kings. Despite the fact that they have won back-to-back games, the Capitals aren't necessarily pushing for a playoff spot after they made it clear at the trade deadline that they were sellers, not buyers.
On the other side, the Los Angeles Kings are pushing for the postseason and also enter this game riding a hot hand, having won three straight games. Los Angeles is fighting for first place in the Pacific division and needs to pile together all the points it can get.
Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals have actually been playing some pretty strong hockey since the trade deadline. They're getting key offensive production from both their first ans third lines.
In their past five games, Sonny Milano, Dylan Strome and T.J. Oshie have combined for 18 points. Milano has added two goals with two assists, Strome has tallied two goals with four assists and Oshie has scored three goals with five assists.
The Capitals haven't been all that consistent when it comes to production this season. They are averaging 3.09 goals per game, but have combined for 15 goals in their past three games.
Washington also hasn't had the best of luck when playing in Los Angeles in recent history, going 3-8 in its past 11 trips to Hollywood. The Capitals aren't one of the better teams in the league right now, but certainly aren't an easy team to play against.
Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings added Joonas Korpisalo, who they expect to be their number-one goaltender moving forward. He had an outstanding debut on Saturday as he made 24 saves and led his team to a 4-2 victory over the St. Louis Blues.
The Kings have been one of the better defensive teams in the league this season, but just weren't getting the consistent goaltending they needed. They play a really strong game at 5-on-5, skating to an expected 2.43 goals against per 60 at even strength.
Their offense hasn't been lacking as the Kings are averaging 3.31 goals per game while also skating to the third-best power play in the league, converting at a 25.2% rate.
Korpisalo is certainly fired up to be a member of the Kings and has had a very strong season, despite coming from a horrible Blue Jackets team.
Capitals vs. Kings Pick
The Kings are, without a doubt, a much better hockey team right now and, as history shows, the Capitals don't seem to have much success when playing in LA.
Anze Kopitar has been buzzing lately and his team should be able to feed off of him and his positive play.
The Kings have gone 7-2-1 in their past 10 games, while the Capitals have gone 3-7-0 in that same span.
Los Angeles' power play should be able to help get it over the hump, especially on home ice where the Kings are 19-9-2 this season. With home-ice advantage and the team playing as well as it is, the Kings should win this one in 60 minutes.
Pick: Los Angeles Kings Three-Way Moneyline (-105)
