The St. Louis Blues and Seattle Kraken have both been trending in negative directions. Both teams are coming into this game on losing streaks, the Blues a little bit worse than the Kraken.

The Blues are currently on a five-game skid, but they have been trading away a ton of their key players prior to the deadline, so they are trying to figure out what their new identity is.

The Kraken were looking good and were basically locked into a playoff position prior to the All-Star Break, but they have been slumping ever since.

Seattle Kraken

The Seattle Kraken have had three pretty tough losses in a row, especially their game against the Bruins as they blew a late lead in the third period.

Seattle has dropped all the way into the second wild card position in the Western Conference and if it doesn't start putting wins together they are in danger of missing the playoffs.

During the losing streak, the Kraken have been pretty horrendous in their defensive end, allowing 15 goals combined in the three-game span and both of their goaltenders have been unreliable for most of the season.

As a team, the Kraken allow 3.15 goals against per game, which is underperforming their 2.94 xGA/GP.

Whether the Kraken start Martin Jones or Phillipp Grubauer, they will probably allow a few goals.

St. Louis Blues

The St. Louis Blues have been just as bad, if not worse than the Kraken. The Blues are the fourth-worst defensive team in the league, allowing 3.63 goals against per game.

The Blues have lost back-to-back games in overtime. They are getting closer and closer to ending this streak, but they can't seem to get over the hump. The goalies for the Blues have really struggled this season. Jordan Binnington is skating to a .896 save percentage and Thomas Greiss, who is technically the backup, has a .901 save percentage of his own. Neither has necessarily taken over the top job.

St. Louis still has some talented players on the roster that can score goals like Pavel Buchnevich, Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas, and all three of these players are due for a breakout game as they have been relatively quiet as of late.

Blues vs. Kraken Pick

Simply put, both teams are an absolute disaster defensively and neither has reliable goaltending.

The over has hit in both of the meetings thus far this season and it certainly appears to be a trend when the Kraken and Blues get together.

This should be a very back-and-forth game with a ton of offense. I like the over.
