Here's everything you need to know about Blackhawks vs. Canucks on Monday, Jan. 22 – our expert NHL prediction and pick.

The under has been a profitable bet when these teams square off, going 5-2-1 over the past eight meetings. Will we see another low-scoring affair Monday evening?

Let's dig into the NHL odds and make an Blackhawks vs. Canucks prediction and pick.

Chicago Blackhawks

I whiffed on the Under in Chicago's game Friday against the New York Islanders, but all of the key variables remain the same, so we are going to give it another try in this matchup. The Blackhawks are once again expected to be without forwards Connor Bedard, Anthony Beauvillier, Andreas Athanasiou, Tyler Johnson, Taylor Hall and Nick Foligno.

The Blackhawks' offense was terrible with all those guys playing. Without them? It has gone exactly as you would expect.

Over their past 11 outings, Chicago is averaging just 1.5 goals per game. They have scored more than two goals just twice over that span, which is a big factor as to why there have been six or fewer total goals scored in eight of those 11 games.

On the campaign, Chicago now ranks 31st in goals scored per game, shots on goal per game, power-play percentage and shooting percentage. The Blackhawks' underlying metrics are even worse, as they rank last in expected goals for per 60 minutes (xGF/60) at 5-on-5.

Vancouver Canucks

Chicago's offensive woes are likely to continue against Vancouver, a team that has played terrifically in all three zones as it continues to hold first place in the Pacific Division. This year, the Canucks rank third in goals allowed per game, which is a product of strong blue line play as well as Thatcher Demko's performance between the pipes.

At 5-on-5, Vancouver ranks 11th in expected goals against per 60 minutes (xGA/60). Meanwhile, Demko is slated to get the start as he looks to build upon his 24-8-1 record and .919 SV%. Entering this game in particularly good form, he is 3-0 with a .946 SV% and 1.67 GAA over his past three starts. There were three or fewer total goals scored in two of those three outings.

This hot streak is likely to continue against a short-handed Blackhawks lineup, especially considering his track record against them even when they aren't this riddled with injuries. Through five career starts against Chicago, Demko is 4-1 with a commanding .952 SV% and 1.41 GAA. There were five or fewer total goals scored in four of those five meetings.

Betting Pick & Prediction

Vancouver's offense is just as dangerous, which is why we are catching plus-money on the Under 6 at DraftKings. However, it is possible that Petr Mrázek is able to hold his own in net for the Hawks, something he has actually done quite well this season.

Through 31 appearances in the crease, Mrázek boasts a .906 SV%, which is particularly impressive given what he deals with in front of him. Like Demko, Mrázek enters this contest in good form as he possesses a .928 SV% over his past five starts.

However, the goal support has predictably not been there, which is why there have been four or fewer total goals scored in four of those five starts.

Pick: Under 6 (+105 at DraftKings | Play to +100)
