Gamecocks 2025 Schedule & Betting Odds
Jacksonville State Gamecocks 2025 Season Preview
Legendary coach Rich Rodriguez helped Jacksonville State make one of the cleanest FCS-to-FBS transitions we’ve seen. In 2023, the Gamecocks went 9-4. In 2024, they raised the bar even higher by winning Conference-USA, blowing out Western Kentucky 52-12 in the title game, and earning a second straight bowl invite.
Even though RichRod left for West Virginia before the bowl game, interim coach Rod Smith kept the team competitive in a 30-27 Cure Bowl loss to Ohio. Still, a 9-5 season, a conference championship, and another postseason appearance? That’s a win by any standard.
Quarterback Tyler Huff was electric in 2024, throwing for 2,179 yards and rushing for 1,343 more. He racked up 36 total touchdowns, earned Conference-USA MVP, and gave the offense real balance. Running back Anwar Lewis chipped in with over 1,200 rushing yards of his own.
Heading into 2025, Jacksonville State ranks No. 99 in our college football betting power ratings with a power rating of 60.2. That puts them just behind teams like ULM and Louisiana Tech, and just ahead of Utah State and North Texas.
Here’s how to bet on Jacksonville State football this year.
Betting On Jacksonville State
There are several ways to bet on Jacksonville State football this season, including game-to-game markets such as moneylines, point spreads and totals (the over/under).
For more odds, check out our college football odds page.
Betting Jacksonville State Moneylines
The Gamecocks went 9–5 in 2024, which includes their bowl loss and an undefeated regular season run in Conference-USA play. That means they also went 9–5 on the moneyline — which is just a bet on them to win outright.
Here’s how a hypothetical moneyline bet would show at a sportsbook like DraftKings or FanDuel:
- Jacksonville State ML: -150
- Middle Tennessee State ML: +130
The minus (-) and plus (+) signs distinguish the favorite from the underdog. Jacksonville State is the favorite in this example.
A wager on the Gamecocks at -150 means a $150 bet returns $100 in profit if they win. A $100 bet on Middle Tennessee at +130 would return $130 in profit if the underdog pulls off the upset.
For more moneyline odds, check out our college football odds page.
Betting Jacksonville State Point Spreads
Generally, most bettors prefer point spreads over moneylines. A point spread wager is a bet on how many points a team will win or lose by.
Here’s how a point spread might look at sportsbooks like bet365 or BetMGM:
- Jacksonville State -2.5 (-110)
- Sam Houston State +2.5 (-110)
Jacksonville State is favored by 2.5 points here, meaning they must win by 3 or more to cover the spread. A $110 wager would win $100 in profit.
Sam Houston State would need to win outright or lose by 2 points or fewer to cover their side. Same payout setup: $110 to win $100.
If you’re new to spreads or unsure how the odds work, check out our American odds guide or our odds calculator before placing any future wagers.
Betting Jacksonville State Totals
There are three major markets in sports betting: moneyline, spread, and total (also called the over/under).
In a totals bet, you’re predicting whether the combined score of both teams will be higher or lower than what the sportsbook lists.
Here’s a real example from Jacksonville State’s game vs. New Mexico State in November 2023:
- Over 48.5 (-110)
- Under 48.5 (-110)
If you bet the over, you needed at least 49 combined points to win. The game ended 20-17, so under bettors cashed.
Jacksonville State leaned heavily on the run game in 2024 and often controlled time of possession. That led to a lot of games finishing under the total. Unless the passing game becomes more explosive, you can expect lower totals again in 2025.
Jacksonville State Player Props & More
College football player props are still limited depending on your state, but when they’re available, you’ll see options like:
- Rushing yards over/unders
- Passing touchdowns
- Anytime touchdown scorers
If props are live, Tyler Huff is a name to watch. He’s a dual-threat QB who can rack up rushing yards and total TDs in a hurry. Running back Anwar Lewis is another player worth tracking.
If college props aren’t legal where you are, platforms like PrizePicks offer DFS-style (Daily Fantasy Sports) stat pick’ems that feel very similar.
