UConn vs Kansas College Basketball Betting Preview
UConn Basketball
The Huskies have started their season much like they've become accustomed to under Dan Hurley. They're currently 6-1, with wins against BYU in Boston and Illinois at Madison Square Garden. While their lone loss did come at home, that was against No. 4 Arizona.
The Huskies are well balanced, as they rank in the top 15 in adjusted efficiency on both sides of the ball thanks to methodical play (312th in adjusted tempo).
That's something that Kansas will also match up with, as the Jayhawks rank just 239th in that category.
UConn comes into this game ranked 17th in average height, but it's 13th in the country in experience.
Kansas Basketball
Kansas enters this matchup with a 4-0 all-time record against UConn.
This Kansas team, like the Huskies, focuses on an efficient offense that relies on methodical movement for good shot selection.
The Jayhawks do have a strong inside presence, which allows them to excel in offensive rebounding and second-chance scoring. But both of those strengths actually play right into the hands of what the Huskies like to do.
The biggest knock on this Kansas team is its lack of depth. The Jayhawks don't have a strong bench or role-player presence, meaning they miss star freshman Darryn Peterson (hamstring). Peterson has been practicing, but as of writing, his status is TBD for this game.
UConn vs. Kansas Betting Analysis
Again, the Huskies have never beaten Kansas.
But it's not just that history that has me backing UConn. I just don't think the Jayhawks are as good as the Huskies. Their strengths play right into the Huskies' strengths, and their weaknesses play right into UConn's.
Even if Peterson plays, he could be rusty, and the role players for Kansas haven't been great offensively.
This game will be won and lost by overall depth, and if we can get anything respectable on the moneyline, that's where I'll be.
My Pick: UConn ML -130 (Play to -150)
