Duke Blue Devils 2021-22 Season

A perennial powerhouse that almost always seems to have a shot at a National Championship, Duke missed the Big Dance for the first time since the 94-95 season. The Blue Blood Blue Devils struggled to come back during the Covid season, were just 9-9 in ACC play and 13-11 overall.

But Duke is back – and just in time, as this season will be Coach K’s final year as head coach. Mike Krzyzewski has been at the helm of this program since 1980 and is looking to pick up his sixth and final championship. The No. 9 Blue Devils are 22-4 and first in the ACC. A recent one-point loss to unranked Virginia hurt their chances of pushing for a potential No. 1 seed, but it’s not out of reach just yet.

Led by freshman forward and potential NBA Draft No. 1 overall pick, Paolo Banchero (16.8 PPG, 8.5 RPG), Duke looks to return to the NCAA Tournament and make a run to the Final Four as Coach K’s farewell tour comes to a close.

Take a look at our college basketball odds to see how the Blue Devils fare in the coming weeks.

Betting on the Duke Blue Devils

The Duke Blue Devils have some tough matchups remaining in the season, so be sure to pay close attention to the odds. Here are some of the popular bet types that you can make on the Blue Devils if you live in a legal sports betting state.

  • Moneyline
  • Point Spread
  • Over/Under
  • Props
  • Futures Odds

Duke Moneyline

A moneyline bet requires a bettor to correctly pick the winner of the game. If you pick the winner of the game correctly, you will win the bet. How much you win will be determined by your wager amount and the associated moneyline for the team you bet on. Here's an example using a recent Duke game against Wake Forest.

  • Duke -490 moneyline
  • Wake Forest +365 moneyline

Duke is the favored team to win this game, which is indicated by the minus sign (-) next to their moneyline. Wake Forest is the underdog denoted by the plus sign (+) next to their moneyline. The moneyline number signifies the potential payout for each team. Someone betting on Duke would have to bet $490 to win $100 whereas a bettor would win $365 with a wager of $100 on Wake Forest.

Duke Point Spread

Users can also place a point spread wager on the Duke Blue Devils. This requires a bettor to correctly select the margin of victory by a particular team, rather than simply who wins. Here's the same Duke vs. Wake Forest matchup as an example.

  • Duke -9.5 (-110)
  • Wake Forest +9.5 (-110)

Oddsmakers set a margin of victory total known as the spread. In this game, Duke has to win by 10 or more points to beat this spread and Wake Forest either has to win the game outright or lose by 9 points or less to beat the spread. Point spreads also have an additional element known as juice, or the vig, which is the tax paid to the sportsbook for each bet. The juice is indicated next to the point spread. This number is used to determine a wager payout. For a bet on Duke, a bettor would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked. Someone betting on Wake Forest would earn a profit of $100 for every $110 risked.

Duke Over/Unders

Betting on over/under totals looks at the cumulative final score between two teams, not the winner or loser of the game. Bettors are required to accurately predict if the teams combine higher or lower than a number set by oddsmakers. Oddsmakers set the over/under total for Duke vs. Wake Forest at 150 points.

  • Over 150 points (-110)
  • Under 150 points (-110)

Again, juice or vig comes into play with over/unders. Betting over 150 points means in this case that a bettor would have to wager $110 to earn $100. Betting under 150 points would mean a bettor would earn $100 for every $110 risked.

Duke Prop Bets

For those Duke fans that have a particular favorite player, prop bets are a great way to show your support. Oddsmakers will also set lines on player statistics. Bettors then have the opportunity to guess whether those players will go over or under the set line to win money. Some popular prop bets include how many points a player will score, who will score first, how many rebounds a player gets, and many more.

Duke Future Odds

If you like Duke’s odds to make the Final Four or win the NCAA Tournament, take a look at futures odds. A futures bet is wager for an event happening later in the season. Because a futures bet can be really hard to predict, the payouts are much higher than a typical wager. The Blue Devils are currently +210 to make the Final Four and +1000 to win the NCAA Tournament.

How to Bet on the Duke Blue Devils

Sports betting is currently legal in North Carolina…but not online. The state has two retail sportsbooks and took their first bet in March 2021. Could online betting launch in 2022? Possibly. Gov. Roy Cooper and other N.C. lawmakers are optimistic there could be online betting in the state before the 2022 NFL season. Stay tuned for updates on The Action Network's North Carolina betting page regarding sports betting legislation in the state.
