The Pistons are 5.5-point favorites over the Wolves on the spread (Pistons -5.5), with the over/under set at 222.5 total points. Detroit is a -205 favorite to win outright on the moneyline, while Minnesota is +170 to pull off the upset.

Timberwolves vs Pistons NBA Thursday Preview

Even with the Celtics beating the Heat last night, the Pistons remain four games ahead in the Eastern Conference — and they are still in position to lock up the 1-seed soon enough.

If the Pistons win tonight, that would make it close to impossible for Boston to catch them — barring a horrific collapse.

Meanwhile, Timberwolves are stuck in sixth place. They are a half-game behind the fifth-place Rockets and two games behind the fourth-place Nuggets for a shot at homecourt in Round 1.

Here's the injury report for tonight:

Pistons' star Cade Cunningham (lung) is still sidelined, and Isaiah Stewart (calf) is also out. Marcus Sasser (hip) is questionable to play.

For the Timberwolves, Anthony Edwards (knee) is questionable, while Jaden McDaniels (patella & bone bruise) remains out.

Timberwolves vs Pistons Picks, Betting Predictions

I'm backing Kevin Huerter to score over 7.5 points in tonight's game.

He has quietly gone over this line in five straight games, including two starts in the absence of others. He's played a significant role off the bench for Detroit following Cade Cunningham's injury.

Huerter has established a solid floor without Cade during this run, going over 7.5 points in 6-of-7 games, including 4-of-5 coming off the bench, where he has averaged over 21 minutes per game.

He scored at least seven points in all seven of those games, and he also scored 11 points on 5-of-11 from the field in the Pistons' win over the Wolves this past weekend.

Huerter is getting opportunities and minutes, his role is stable, and he's producing — with 50/36/80 shooting splits in his last seven contests. Action PRO is projecting him to score 9.9 points against Minnesota tonight.
