We move to 6-0 on the weekend with yesterday's sweep. However, there are no plans of stopping now as there are three more arms with value on today's slate.
So, let's keep the ball rolling as we dive into three more MLB player props for Sunday, June 9 — featuring bets for and Tyler Glasnow in Dodgers vs Yankees.
MLB Player Props: Sunday, June 9
- Grayson Rodriguez Over 1.5 Walks Allowed (-135, DraftKings)
- Frankie Montas Under 5.5 Strikeouts (-122, BetRivers)
- Tyler Glasnow Over 17.5 Outs Recorded (-125, DraftKings)
I'm going back to the well here with this first selection. I faded Grayson Rodriguez in his last start, as his command has not been great despite his success this season.
While Rodriguez did not walk a batter in his last start, his history and his matchup today suggest otherwise. He has walked at least two batters in 65% of his 34 big league starts.
In addition to that, this afternoon, he takes on a Tampa Bay lineup that ranks 13th in walk rate against righties, but they have been very disciplined of late.
Over their last 15 games, the Rays are second in walk rate and fifth over their last 30. So, we should expect Tampa Bay to make Rodriguez work and draw at least two free passes.
Frankie Montas comes into this outing off his best outing of the season. He threw seven innings of shutout ball while allowing one hit and striking out nine in Coors Field.
However, we are going to sell high on Frankie Montas in this outing, as he has not been a consistent source of strikeouts this season. He has struck out five or fewer batters in 9-of-11 starts this season, and that equates to a 60% under rate over his last 40 starts.
He has not been the same pitcher since struggling with injuries. So, while he turned back the clock against the Rockies, it's unlikely to rewind that far against the Chicago Cubs today.
Lastly, we close things out in the Bronx, where Tyler Glasnow will take the mound against the New York Yankees. Glasnow has been a workhorse at the top of the Dodgers rotation as he's been highly effective and efficient.
I expect him to rise to the occasion on what is a big stage for June. With this being a potential World Series preview, Glasnow has the chance to establish himself against a formidable Yankees lineup.
However, one big key is that the Yankees are still missing Juan Soto, who is one-third of their consistent production. On top of the narratives and the matchup, the numbers support this play.
Glasnow has thrown at least six innings in 69% of his starts this season. That gives us implied odds of -223 that he will reach that mark again tonight.
