Braxton Garrett Over 5.5 Strikeouts (-130)

One of the darlings of strikeout props for me this season has been Marlins lefty Braxton Garrett. After getting absolutely shelled versus the Braves back in May, Garrett made a subtle tweak to his pitch arsenal, relying more on his cutter to offset his sinker.
The results have been fantastic. Since that fateful game, Garrett has pitched to a 3.18 ERA (2.69 xFIP), while registering a 30% strikeout rate. He’s cleared this strikeout line in nine of his 13 starts over that span.
Today, Garrett gets the desired matchup against the Colorado Rockies in a home game. The Rockies as a team this season are running a 27.1% K% versus lefties in away games (fourth-highest rate) and a dreadful 66 wRC+ (lowest in baseball).
In fact, against southpaw starters in away games, the Rockies have struck out a whopping 93 times in only 80 innings.
Plus, the Coors hangover should be out in full force tonight. The Rockies are coming off a five-game homestand, which typically leads to more strikeouts in their first game away from the hitter-friendly conditions of Coors. Factoring in the All-Star break, the Rockies haven’t played a road game in 12 days.
Garrett is coming off two suboptimal performances against the strong lineups of the Orioles and Phillies. I love this spot for him to bounce back, especially in the strikeout column.
I have Garrett projected at seven strikeouts tonight and would play this line up to -150.
