Red Sox vs Rays Picks
The Red Sox and Rays square off in the last of a three-game set at The Trop. Drew Rasmussen takes the mound for Tampa, while Jake Bennett starts for Boston.
Rasmussen looks great! He’s running a 3.00 ERA and 0.92 WHIP across his first 12 starts this season.
Bennett has a shot to squeeze his way into Boston’s short-handed rotation, but he could really use a good start on Wednesday. Bennett posted a solid outing against Houston on May 1 (5 IP, 1 ER, 5 H, 3 K, 2 BB), but struggled against these Rays on May 7 (5.1 IP, 4 ER, 6 H, 1 K, 2 BB).
I’m not a big fan of Bennett. He’s a good command-and-control pitcher (119 Location+, 6% barrel rate allowed) but has a very limited Major League arsenal (91 Stuff+, 93 MPH fastball).
Junior Caminero could easily bash Bennett around in this matchup. Tampa’s third baseman has already recorded a hit against Boston’s rookie lefty in three head-to-head at-bats.
Pick: Junior Caminero Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110)
Yankees vs Guardians Picks
The Yankees and Guardians square off on Wednesday in the last of a three-game set at Progressive Field. Parker Messick will start for Cleveland, while Carlos Rodon will make his sixth start of the season for New York.
Messick is off to a great start in 2026, recording a 2.40 ERA across his first 13 starts, ranking seventh among qualified MLB starting pitchers. He’s also running a 1.07 WHIP, ranking 17th among the same group of guys.
While pitching against New York’s lineup is always scary, Messick is up to the challenge. His job also gets easier for the time being, given Aaron Judge is still on the shelf — the Yankees are markedly worse in the batter’s box without the three-time MVP.
Rodon has looked good since returning from the IL, posting a 2.88 ERA across his first six starts this season. He’s allowed just three runs over his past three starts, tossing 17 innings during that stretch.
His most recent start was against these Guardians, where he allowed just one run across two hits over six innings with seven strikeouts, good for his second consecutive quality start.
These two starters are in good form, and they should pitch a clean first inning on Wednesday afternoon.
Additionally, I’d look for Jose Ramirez to pick up a few bases.
J-Ram has a long history with Rodon, having met in 64 plate appearances. Ramirez has gotten the better of that matchup, recording 14 hits, four doubles, and a triple while drawing eight walks.
Pick: NRFI (-160) | Jose Ramirez Over 1.5 Total Bases (-110)
Nationals vs Giants Picks
The Giants host the Nationals in the last of a three-game set at Oracle Park. Robbie Ray will take the mound for San Francisco, while Foster Griffin will start for the Nationals.
Ray hasn’t been able to replicate his 2021 Cy Young form, currently posting a 4.12 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 13 outings. He might struggle against the Nationals, who lead all MLB lineups in wRC+ against left-handed pitching this season (122).
That said, Ray has pretty stark lefty-righty splits, which limit the upside of James Wood and CJ Abrams.
Instead, I’d rather back Nasim Nunez to get on base and swipe a bag.
In his career, Nunez has been an above-average hitter against lefties (119 wRC+) but a horrific hitter against righties (45 wRC+). And he’s been one of the best base-runners in the league this season, with a whopping 24 steals across his first 63 games, ranking third among MLB hitters.
Pick: Nasim Nunez Stolen Base
Reds vs Padres Picks
The Padres and Reds will duke it out on Wednesday in the last of a three-game set at PetCo Park. Michael King will take the mound for San Diego, while Brady Singer will toe the rubber for Cincinnati.
King has been a model of consistency over the past seven seasons, posting a 3.26 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across a vast sample size. He’s actually pitched better than his career statistics indicate, given his outlier 2020 COVID season, where he posted a 7.76 ERA and 1.54 WHIP across 26 innings. He’s recorded a sub-3.50 ERA in every other full season.
Singer is not a model of consistency, running a 5.89 ERA and 1.69 WHIP across his first 12 outings.
Behind a massive starting pitching edge, the Padres should win this game at home.
Additionally, I expect Fernando Tatis Jr. to hammer Singer.
Tatis is 1-for-3 lifetime against Singer, and this is a good spot for him.
Pick: Padres ML (-164) | Fernando Tatis Jr. Over 1.5 HRR (-145) | Fernando Tatis Jr. Home Run (+540)
Diamondbacks vs Marlins Picks
The Marlins host the Diamondbacks in the second of this three-game set at LoanDepot Park. Ryne Nelson starts for the Snakes, while Ryan Gusto will likely serve as an opener for the Fish.
Gusto has only made three appearances this season, but he’s allowed six earned runs across five innings of work behind a 1.80 WHIP. Sure, it’s a small sample size, but his form is concerning, given Arizona’s lineup is white-hot.
Therefore, I’d love to target some Arizona props. Specifically, I’m looking to bet on some left-handed Diamondbacks, given Gusto has severe lefty-righty splits across his 106 MLB innings (.411 wOBA allowed to southpaws, .280 wOBA allowed to righties).
That gives Corbin Carroll a great opportunity to stuff the stat sheet on Wednesday.
Carroll is one of the most versatile players in the sport. He’s speedy on the basepaths but swings a hard bat. He also crushes sliders and sinkers, Gusto’s two favorite pitches.
Pick: Corbin Carroll Over 1.5 HRR (-140)
Phillies vs Blue Jays Picks
I’m excited for this interleague clash between the Phillies and Blue Jays, especially with Jesus Luzardo matching up with Max Scherzer.
Sadly, Scherzer is past his prime. He’s allowed 20 earned runs across 18 ⅔ MLB innings this season with a 1.61 WHIP, and his advanced pitching model metrics have reached a career-worst level (4.82 botERA, 90 Stuff+).
I’m happy to back some Philly hitters in this matchup with Scherzer.
Bryson Stott has started to see the ball well, as he’s hit to a 123 wRC+ in June. Additionally, he’s 8-for-13 lifetime off Scherzer. In 2022, Stott became the first player to reach base four times in a single game against Scherzer.
Pick: Bryson Stott Over 1.5 HRR (-115)
Braves vs White Sox Picks
The White Sox host the Braves on Wednesday in the last of a three-game set at Rate Field. Davis Martin will take the mound for the White Sox, while lefty Ace Chris Sale will take the mound for the Braves.
Martin has been a pleasant surprise, running a 2.61 ERA across 12 starts. Sale needs no introduction and is running a 2.23 ERA and 1.03 WHIP with 86 strikeouts across 12 outings.
In this old-school vs. new-school pitching matchup, I have faith in both Sale and Martin to pitch a scoreless first frame.
But look out for Ronald Acuna Jr., who should stuff the stat sheet again on Wednesday.
Pick: NRFI (-135) | Ronald Acuna Over 1.5 HRR (-145)
Rangers vs Royals Picks
The Rangers and Royals will duke it out on Wednesday at Kauffman Stadium. Seth Lugo starts for the home side, while Texas will start MacKenzie Gore.
Both starting pitchers have had up-and-down seasons so far, and I have trouble handicapping either with their volatility. Gore has recorded four quality starts, has elite strikeout stuff, and ended May in tremendous fashion, but he’s also had more than a few rocky starts.
Gore faced the Royals a few weeks ago, tossing 6 ⅓ scoreless frames while allowing just four hits.
Still, I think a few Kansas City hitters can exploit Gore in this matchup.
Specifically, I think Maikel Garcia could find some success at the plate, given he has crushed left-handed pitching this season (181 wRC+).
These two have met six times before, with Garcia recording two hits in those at-bats. I wouldn’t be surprised if Maikel builds on his head-to-head success on Wednesday.
Pick: Maikel Garcia Over 1.5 HRR (-155)
Cubs vs Rockies Picks
The Rockies host the Cubs on Wednesday in the second of a three-game set at Coors Field. Shota Imanaga starts for Chicago, while Michael Loreznen starts for Colorado.
I think this should be a high-scoring affair, especially on the Cubbies’ side.
Loreznen has been awful. He’s running an 8.01 ERA and 1.99 WHIP across his first 13 starts, including a whopping 9.67 ERA in Denver. Coors is always a hitter-friendly park, and the run-scoring environment could be even more offense-friendly on Wednesday behind 90-degree temperatures.
Pete Crow-Armstrong is finally finding his rhythm at the plate after an early-season slump. He’s batting .379 with a 1.293 OPS and four homers over his past 10 games.
He also went head-to-head with Lorenzen thrice at the World Baseball Classic, when Lorenzen was pitching for Italy. PCA smashed two homers across those three at-bats.
Given the matchup, hitter-friendly conditions, and current form, this is an ideal spot for PCA to have a monster day. I’m betting him across the board.
Pick: Pete Crow-Armstrong Over 2.5 HRR (-135) | PCA Over 1.5 Total Bases (-185) | PCA Over 0.5 Triples (+900)
Brewers vs A's Picks
The A’s host the Brewers on Wednesday in the last of a three-game set at the brand new Las Vegas ballpark.
This park is an absolute launching pad. There were 11 home runs in Milwaukee’s 15-14 12-inning victory on Monday.
That doesn’t bode well for these two starting pitchers, who are both struggling — Brandon Sproat and Jack Perkins both have ERAs north of six.
So, I’m looking to back two of these franchise’s best hitters to rack up some big hits in another high-scoring affair.
Pick: Jackson Chourio Over 1.5 Hits | Nick Kurtz Over 2.5 HRR
