Keller was a starter for most of his career, but he's been strictly a short reliever since his first outing of the year. He's thrown 1 inning or fewer in 11 of 15 appearances. Keller has maxed out at 28 pitches since his season debut. He's already pitched twice this week. Keller as the opener seems to be about Cade Horton avoiding the top of New York's lineup. Lindor, Soto, Alonso, and Nimmo all have sub-18% strikeout rates against righties this year. I'm expecting to see Horton in the 2nd inning, so Keller is going to need to punch out some elite contact hitters to get there.
