Cowboys vs Bears Week 3 Preview
The Bears lost to Detroit by 31 points last week, and you know I love a bounce-back spot. Teams that lose by 30+ points are 149-121-10 ATS the following week, historically.
The Bears also have the coaching advantage in this matchup. I'll take Ben Johnson over Brian Schottenheimer and Matt Eberflus all day, especially with Chicago going up against one of its former head coaches.
The secondary is a mess for both of these teams. It looks like Daron Bland is out for the Cowboys. Jalen Johnson is out for the Bears and Kyler Gordon is listed as week-to-week, which should be bad news for a Chicago defense that ranks 29th in pressure rate and 31st in blitz rate.
The Bears are likely going to play a ton of man coverage with no corners and no pressure against CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens.
Sounds great, right?
Well, I think we may be in for a weird game. There's a chance of bad weather in Chicago this weekend. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are riding high after escaping with a road win in overtime against the Giants.
All things considered, the Cowboys should've lost that game to New York. While on the flip side, the Bears probably should've won their Week 1 game against the Vikings given they let an 11-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter.
We very well could be looking at a matchup between the 1-1 Bears against the 0-2 Cowboys. However, we are not, so we're seeing the Cowboys priced as slight favorites today.
Cowboys vs Bears Prediction, Moneyline Analysis
This is a "rally to save your season" spot for the Bears, and the Cowboys defense is awful. I'll trust the Bears to find a way to get the job done at home in Week 3.
The only thing that really concerns me is this is the biggest kicker mismatch in NFL history.
You have Cairo Santos for the Bears, who basically maxes out at 40 yards. Meanwhile, Brandon Aubrey can hit field goals from 68 yards or further for the Cowboys.
However, I think that this is a good get-right, buy-low spot for the Bears, and I have no problem fading the Cowboys as a road favorite.
Pick: Bears Moneyline (-105)
Spread Prediction
I will be targeting the moneyline market instead of the spread in this spot.
