Stanford vs UNC NCAAF Week 11 Preview

Stanford Cardinal Betting Preview

The ACC hasn't been kind to Stanford.

The Cardinal come into this game off two consecutive losses where they were outscored by a combined score of 77-27.

The line for this matchup gives a perspective of the caliber of the Cardinal, as they're more than a touchdown underdog to a North Carolina team that has struggled mightily in its own right.

Much of the spread has to do with Stanford's bleak offensive outlook, ranking 134th in yards per rush and 118th in completion percentage. It has gotten next to nothing going on offense, while the Tar Heels defense is underrated.

UNC ranks 20th in yards per rush allowed and 38th in yards per pass allowed. We should see the Heels contain the Cardinal offense while applying plenty of pressure on quarterback Ben Gulbranson.

North Carolina Tar Heels Betting Preview

As for the Tar Heels, they finally snapped their four-game losing streak by taking down Syracuse on the road. However, that victory was a long time coming, as UNC had been hard-luck losers for the three weeks prior.

While it's clear that this team under Bill Belichick was massively overhyped, it's beginning to find its form and is in a far better place than its opposition in this matchup.

We know the defense has been much improved, but we should also see the passing attack thrive.

Quarterback Gio Lopez has thrown for 424 yards while completing 71.5% of his passes. This week, he'll be up against a Stanford secondary that ranks 101st in opponent completion percentage and 102nd in yards per pass allowed.

The Cardinal defensive line won't provide any resistance either, ranking 105th in sack rate. The Tar Heels, meanwhile, have kept Lopez clean this season.

Stanford vs UNC NCAAF Pick to Make

These two teams' records may be similar, but the market is a clear indication of how far apart they are.

We should see the Tar Heels separate themselves early by shutting down the Cardinal offense and moving the ball with ease through the air.

Take the Heels to cover the first-half spread.

Pick: UNC 1H -4.5 (+102)
